Slayer

Does not seem like it was that long ago. A real shame for something that you would think could have been avoided

Yes Foro. I remember being so surprised by the news. I didn't know the guy had other problems than those induced by the spider bite. Now, I'm really looking forward to seeing them live with Holt that summer. He looks like a very nice and he is fun watch live. I'm sure he does well. I know it must be hard to see him onstage for some diehard Slayer fans, but I'm just a fan, so, it's fine by me.

Both times I've seen Slayer, Holt was playing. He's awesome. However, second time I've seen them was with Bostaph who was pretty bad imo.

Nice interview :ok: (and with the guy, I learn some new english idiom : "in some parts, I improvise my ass off" ;). He must have taken this from a porn movie actress).
I'd really like to know how he actually deals with King. Maybe he is so happy to play in a successful band that he accepts to do exactly what he is told to.

Holt must have had very tough times with Exodus (financially speaking), and Slayer is a legend in itself. I guess the combination of both things helps to bear some of the most unpleasant aspects of the cohabitation. Plus, it seems to me that he is allowed a certain space onstage : he can move upfront, can act as he wants, and is not confined to an obsure role. It is quite surprising to see a Slayer guitarist smiling onstage (Tom does, from time to time, but Jeff didn't as far as I know ; as for King...)

Excuse me, but, what do you mean with "pretty bad" ? Lombardo is one of my favorite drummers, but I like Bostaph's work on the records.

Thanks for answering. I'll pay attention to his play next june. Anyway, good or not, getting rid of Lombardo is a stupid move. The man is awesome and knows what a song needs : I was listening to South of Heaven recently, and it's amazing to hear how he can alternate very technical bits and simple plays, just because it serves the song.

I saw Slayer with Holt a couple of years ago, he was tight and looked like he was having a blast on stage. I'm seeing them again at Knebworth this year but I sceptical about life without Lombardo. He is, IMO, possibly the greatest metal drummer there is, and is integral to Slayer.

Saw them last week, playing right before Maiden, and as weird as it sounds, and as much as I am a Lombordo fan:
Slayer with Holt and Bostaph rule live. I totally did not miss the others.

Especially Holt was very impressive. By the way, I think his volume was way louder than King's and his clear and sharp leads totally owned the field. Bostaph was quite spot on as well. Check this out:
