Simon Dawson is the new drummer

Yeah, it all points to Simon being a touring hired gun for now and Nicko remaining an Iron Maiden member and will likely be paid through Iron Maiden LLP.

What is more interesting is that Rod resigned as Iron Maiden Limited director in 2023, which likely marks his semi-retirement as IM manager.
I definitely read it that he isn't as active as Shack. He's more of the front line manager now.

That one is somewhat more likely and something I've thought about as well. He is familiar with it after all.
There are plenty of bass drum patterns that Nicko has played with his heel-toe-technique which can be easier recreated with a double bass pedal.

If they played something like CSIT or Dream Of Mirrors I could see the double bass pedal, to make it somewhat easier for him, but given the speculated setlists for the upcoming tour the pedal wouldn't really be necessary. So, it might end up being a personal preference, to spruce up some drum fills here and there.

Summary: Not impossible, but he probably will use a single pedal for now, in my opinion.

Finally dug out my one Simon Dawson CD that's not British Lion. 20+ years ago as a student, I used to buy every cheap metal CD I could, and I bought this Dearly Beheaded album. I recognised the band name from Kerrang and liked Machine Head, Pantera, Deftones at the time...

Songwriting is generic but the drumming is fantastic and fitting for that style of 90s metal. Would have been a CD I threw out but I'll keep it now.
