I agree. Every other album since The Last Sanctum has really been unremarkable for me. Into the Labyrinth, Sacrifice, and Thunderbolt are probably three of the blandest metal albums I've heard in my life.
On the flip side of that, the aforementioned The Inner Sanctum is quite flavorful and has some pretty good atmospheric bits reminiscent of Lionheart (a great album, probably their best outside the 80's stuff). Call to Arms works really well as modern day NWOBHM album. Some really wonderful stuff on there like the opening track and Ballad of the Working Man. Battering Ram I found to be quite good as well and thrashy in parts. Also that album had possibly the biggest power metal flavor since Lionheart.

@Kalata I would be interested to know what some of your favorite "modern day" Saxon albums (everything post-Dogs of War I guess) are. I see you that you like them quite a bit and seem to hold some of their more recent outputs in high regard. Post Dogs of War, I don't listen to much outside of Unleash the Beast, Lionheart, The Inner Sanctum, Call to Arms, and Battering Ram.

I do not hold their more recent outputs in that high regard (especially in comparison with their classic stuff from the 80's).....
My favorite album (post-Dogs Of War) is probably Unleashed The Beast - at first I thought this album was weak and boy, I was wrong. When I listened to it a couple of months earlier, I was surprised that I didn't like it from first listen... though I haven't listened to this album in a while. Other good albums are: Killing Ground, The Inner Sanctum and Sacrifice (*but not as a whole albums like it is the case with Unleashed The Beast).

Well there is a lyric video available for one of the tracks from Biff’s solo album. Pretty decent tune on first listen I thought, but really not much different from Saxon, so not sure why he needed to complete a solo album to release something like this.

It's a good song, but indeed it sounds like Saxon (Wheels Of Steel-era). Probably the other songs are going to be different (he said that the album will contain a ballad, because he is a big Journey fan) - the album will contain 11 songs and it will be released in February 21 next year.

The album will contain spoken-word introduction - called ''Inquisitor'' (about the Spanish Inquisition). The album also will contain two cover songs:

- Scarborough Fair by Simon & Garfunkel
