Sabaton

I agree with Mosh. We mainly focused on US history (which is important) any Euro history was mostly about the Roman Empire or the 1900's and onward.

Was just about to post it. I love it so much, listening to it gave me chills. It's very much like classic Sabaton, and it does retread a lot of elements they've used already, but it does so in new and exciting ways. I've been waiting for a song about the Bismarck. So good.

I don't think I've ever loved a song 30 minutes after its release.

US history is important but not so important that it needs to be the focus of most history classes in a K-12 american curriculum. Especially when US history isn’t even taught in a productive way (skirting controversial topics, revisionist history, etc). I got more out of a semester long college US history course than I did in roughly 12 years of it in grade school. The European history class I took really wasn’t that productive either since they were cramming 700 years into a two semester course.

If I were to design a high school curriculum around history, I would do one year of US, two years of Europe, and two years of world (with the options of a general survey class or a more specific course).

Yeah, it's a separate single.
Well, obviously. Really interesting, though. I like the song, and while it's certainly a Sabaton song, I'm hearing a bit more evolution and a lot more of Tommy Johansson's guitar sound from Reinxeed, which is good, because I like him a lot more than I like Thobbe Englund.

Yeah, it's way better than literally all of The Last Stand outside of maybe "Shiroyama", "The Last Battle", and "Rorke's Drift", and even then I feel like it's superior.

Eh. I'm not ready to start ranking things yet. It's a good song. I quite like a lot of stuff off The Last Stand. And I think Shiroyama is probably overrated technically, it just happens to be very fun (though I prefer Winged Hussars on the fun scale).

With enough spins The Last Stand is a decent affair, but I've always felt it was more in league with Metalizer in quality, and often worse. "Winged Hussars" is fun for the chorus, but it's never blown me away. "The Last Battle" is the sole song that I really think showcased the band's songwriting quality on that album. I'm listening to "Bismarck" on repeat at the moment and I'm really digging it much more than the stuff on The Last Stand. The guitar stuff in particularly is great.

Shiroyama makes me think of samurais dancing under a disco ball. That in itself qualifies to make it one of my favourite Sabaton songs. -_-

Amen, brother! I thought I was the only person in the world who doesn't love it. It's not even that fun, in my opinion.
It's a lot more fun live than it is on the album, I think. But I greatly prefer Winged Hussars, Rorke's Drift, The Last Stand, The Last Battalion, and probably Sparta to the track.

I like The Last Stand. The title track, Winged Hussars, Shiroyama, Sparta and The Lost Battalion are all great.

Those would be my choices, yes.

I'm not thrilled with the new song. It's possibly a grower, but at the moment I find it lacking. It sort of drags.
