Re Eddfest, loved the whole day but missed The Almighty and Airbourne due to the queue off the A1 - took a good 2 hours. Also cheesed off as I paid £40 for a car park ticket and everyone was being waved through and told to park wherever - could've parked for free!

I really liked the exhibits in Maidenville and went on that ride which was thrilling and better than the new one of a similar type at Blackpool Pleaseure Beach called Aviktus.

Was impressed (and bemused at times) by The Hu and was in a merch queue for practically all of The Darkness's set. Maiden were great of course with the sound pretty good but there's nothing you can do when the wind gets up and the sound gets a bit 'wishy-washy'. I'm a Simon fan and think he's doing a tremendous job but did something go wrong after the build up to Dave's guitar solo in SSOASS? On the big screen Simon had what looked like a scowl on his face at that point- also the middle section seemed a bit extended to me but I may be wrong.

Good that Bruce soldiered on and I liked that he briefly waved the England flag during Trooper. Also he spoke about the England v Norway match which they'll probably cut from the DVD but it could be hard as he shouted '10pm and they've just kicked off' before one track, I forget which.

Afterwards it was the slow shuffle back to the car park with some morons breaking down some fences and trying to take a shortcut through the woods. Then listened to extra time in the car and was out by 00.45ish and home in London by 02.30. Great day all round.

Simon is not the one who dictates the tempos. They have deliberately slowed down some of the songs. FOTD was already much slower when Nicko was still in the band, compared to the 90s or 2000s versions.

If they (Pophouse it seems) will try any funny business with the editing of whatever comes out from this, they will also feel the wrath of that fandom they now poured money into getting a piece of.

Speaking of which... I wonder what goes on in the mind of Steve right now. I'm sure there's been small steps being made for several years but in a very short time frame, there's been the Burning Ambition docu ("not made by us"), the destiny of the tour film in someone else's hands and the uncertainty of what's beyond the 2027 break (statements from Bruce and Steve) and now the Pophouse acquisition. He's not in control anymore. It's a generational shift and it's spelled Ben Smallwood and Pophouse.

Men,editing has been in all the live albums. Check donington 1992 and the bootleg during the evil that men do, rock in rio BNW fear of the dark.... but durinh knebworth has to be 3 songs.

They are selling 50% of their catallogue, the eddie rights and what they have in the vault for using it for decades. And maiden members have the money now. For us? Could be good if they are going to release cd boxes and other things. The bad news... retirement its closer
