I think his name is Simon Cowell.Isn’t he the new drummer?
I don't see that much negativity overall. The band are playing well and the new drummer is good. The screens look okay to me. Would have preferred one more deep cut but other than that it's all good.Jesus Fucking Christ. So much negativity lately in this thread.
I've enjoyed her channel as well. I kind of lived vicariously thru them as they travel all over and see my favorite band. She's an artist so I understand her views of AI. Until claims of AI use is actually substantiated I will remain neutral for now. If it was used I hope it was just to enhance what the digital artist already created. They also have come to know Nicko on a personal level and I think his leaving is affecting them more. But I won't watch this video as I'm not interested in a hour and half long negative commentary of a show that I think is great. They seem to be good kids (I'm old enough to be their dad) and I also like their friend Logan as we both have the same sense of humor.I like the Captain Harris channel. They are some folks that express their opinions, right or wrong. Exactly what we do here btw.
Their review was too negative, because she didn't like the AI stuff, which is acceptable. Then, some people are too attached to some band members. Honestly, I love Nicko also, but the band sounds tighter now imo. So, I've already accepted Simon as the new drummer. Some people need more time.
I get the frustration but I think it’s worth remembering that “review culture” isn’t new. We’ve always had critics, whether in newspapers, magazines, zines, or TV segments. YouTube and vlogging just replaced those older vehicles. The platform may have lowered the barrier to entry, but at the same time, it's also enabled some genuinely thoughtful, in-depth voices to reach wide audiences without needing institutional backing. Please excuse the rant- but YT / Vlogging… this is what criticism is these days?
No disrespect intended to those folks that enjoys this type of thing, but I can’t imagine spending the time to listen to this ‘personality’ yap on and on, just inane babble.
It’s not just this fella- it’s the entire (for the most part) culture of media it seems, games / movies… any type of content.
Just sort of astonishes me tbh, there are so many great works of art out there, wonderfully crafted and written criticism and let’s not forget touching grass! That’s an option too.
Back on topic- so glad to see them doing somewhat ‘better’ with Aces Somewhere Below the Waist. I agree with what someone said a few pages ago, they should have retired the song after the great Spitfire from the last tour. Let that be the image we are left with. Now without a compelling visual, we have only left with Bruce’s tortured struggle.
Anyway too many Simons lolIsn’t he the new drummer?
I dont belive a big % that videos of one guy reaction to maiden or other bands. I dont have any album of back street boys and i know songs. Its imposible not know the trooper for a guy in his past 50sWe’ve got a much bigger problem than Captain Harris’ channel. YouTuber Daily Doug just dropped a video where he listens to the entire Number of the Beast album. With that, he's now gone through all of Maiden’s first seven studio albums. And of course, the commenters are already pushing him to check out Live After Death next. But we all know what's coming—No Prayer for the Dying will eventually have its day. And that day… will be tragic.
Agree with a lot of points raised in the Capnharris video but you'd think it was the end of the world from the way they're talking about it.
The worst for me was that in a 1+ hour video, they barely talked about the music. They hated the AI so much that they were unable to focus on something else. The show at its core is live music, the rest should be a detail.Yeah, they come off as too dramatic in that video, especially about missing Nicko and the AI screen stuff.
We'll see how many shows they go to for the US leg next year.
Bruce abandoned the jumps since Achilles injury before 2019 tour. 3 platforms were abandoned after Steve fell into the gap between them. The primary reason for 3 platforms was to place front fills between them. Now with Pooch using smaller Claire Brothers speakers, there is no need for separation anymore.I noticed watching some videos that Bruce's monitors are very separated and he doesn't use to put over them or jump over it because they don't use the 3 platforms that it was very Maiden unique. So he doesn't jump over them and put his hands up for the crowd anymore.
I saw iron maiden in zurich 2022 and he was running jumping and standing on the amps.Bruce abandoned the jumps since Achilles injury before 2019 tour. 3 platforms were abandoned after Steve fell into the gap between them. It wouldn't be right if he wasn't. Maybe he's been training just enough to get through one song? Or maybe they'll just bring him out at the end like they did with Clive back in '02.I have a feeling that Nicko will be in London.
I wouldn't count on him playing anything, but boy do I hope he will.It wouldn't be right if he wasn't. Maybe he's been training just enough to get through one song? Or maybe they'll just bring him out at the end like they did with Clive back in '02.
It's such a shame what happened to him, regardless of his age.
That’s it precisely. You don’t just tell AI to make the backdrops, you get it to make the indivual images and then drop them in, same as using stock footage or working with an artist and combining elements.I wanna say that I agree with most of your points and appreciate your perspective, but want to comment on this part in particular. Given the capabilities of AI generation tools currently, I wouldn't say it would be particularly difficult to create various images as a baseline and to then have illustrators/3d artists create the "connecting tissue" and the animations to go from one image to the next.
Yeah but be careful what you wish for. I went back and watched some Nicko clips from last year and at the time they seemed shaky but passable; but after getting used to hearing them with a solid drummer again this year it sounded bloody terrible. If Nicko comes out and plays Iron Maiden after Simon’s done the rest of the show I don’t think he’ll be doing his legacy any favours, put it that way.I wouldn't count on him playing anything, but boy do I hope he will.
I completely agree and you are right. But (for me) the big difference is the idea of ‘content’ and the drive to focus on quantity and not quality.I get the frustration but I think it’s worth remembering that “review culture” isn’t new.
