Ancient Mariner
Just checked number of the beast at graspop. He is sick. If he was being tortured during aces high without being sick.... i cant understand that disaster
Then, don't play it. As simple as that. This will never happen. Anyone hoping for this is simply setting themselves up for disappointment.
This also falls under "setting yourself up for disappointment". There's nothing to discuss from Maiden's POV. They play one of their biggest hits and have created a new animation for it.Then, don't play it. As simple as that.
If a pilot's hat and a cringey video of planes flown by Eddie are the reason to go through this, then god help them.
There should be some words said between members after this performance.
Then, if they lost all self-critique, they should stop before they become a cabaret act. The thing is that this performance is below passable. Like Blaze's were in 1998. If you pride yourself in still being your best at 65+, you should also pick the songs that work for that age. And let's not act like Aces High is Trooper, Fear Of The Dark or RTTH in terms of popularity. This also falls under "setting yourself up for disappointment". And there is no way in hell there'll be any "words between members" on this matter. They are all on the same side of this.
Even attempting Aces in this state is stupid.
If they do anything it won't be until next year. Either drop it for Tailgunner (can still use the animations albeit Eddie is the pilot) or move it to the opener. I'm probably one of the biggest Maiden defenders here but it's time they start addressing some limitations and recognize they are getting older and should compromise a tad.
...
And if I was Bruce and someone asked me in the interview why we dropped Aces High, I'd simply say... I can't perform it on consistent enough on nightly basis to provide good enough performance for the fans. I can still sing it but not every night. I'd simply say "Fair." To that. But no, let's bullshit it.
The show must go on.
But Aces High should be dropped for a show or two, and then downtuned when it gets back to the setlist.
Dropping the song would be the sensible, reasonable thing, same with downtuning it. But this is a band built on being stubborn about the silliest things so it'll never happen. The show must go on.
Bruce cancelled one(?) show last year around this time because his voice was completely due to sickness. Maiden are almost too big for that to happen. Bruce has to be on his deathbed for a show to be cancelled at this stage.

the problem with maiden is than they dont change nothing. If he is sick they pkay the same setlist. They coulf change 3 or 4 songs and we still hsve fun.The show must go on.

I always though that the character dies. But can we talk about Hallowed Be Thy Name for a moment?
What happens at the end of the song? Does he come back to life, or is he entering the afterlife? Is that what the final lines mean, that he is with God. I've never thought about it despite it being my favourite song. Or am I reading to much into the stage show.
Any thoughts?
