RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Regardless of my opinion, AI is here to stay. The genie is already out of the lamp, and it’s not going back in. From now on, AI will only grow in presence—and I’m pretty sure we ain’t seen nothin’ yet. I’m not defending it (yeah, I mess around with this new shiny toy, but I don’t make any money off it, so I think my view is fairly level-headed). I’m pretty confident it’s going to harm a lot of lives, but it’s inevitable—unless it ends up being heavily regulated and proper laws are put in place. Right now, we’re in the wild west phase.

And honestly, I find some of the outrage a bit ironic. Remember Lars and the Napster situation? Lars was actually a victim, yet a lot of music listeners crucified him for it. Now it’s the same story, just reversed—bands will increasingly (no doubt about it) use this new cost-effective tech, just like fans used cost-effective Napster. So yeah, in that way, this anger toward AI feels a bit cringe.

That doesn’t mean I fully support AI—especially when “bow and arrow screw-ups” end up in final visuals. All I’m saying is: a new wave of technology has arrived, and until something is done to regulate it, this is what we’re dealing with. I’m pretty sure it won’t be long before actors start losing jobs to AI. Welcome to Brave New World. They’re gonna screw us all.

If the fans didn't push the band they would play the same songs over and over again. All the new album tours will be more of the same (6 new songs and the obvious history ones). Don't make it seem like we're interfering with their creativity. We just wanna see some new songs in different tours because we buy a lot of tickets and make a lot of costs to see them each time! Consumer rights :)

In what way are fans "pushing the band" to play different songs? The only time I can think of is actually a negative example, when Maiden toured a load of their new material on the first leg of the Final Frontier Tour and morons complained that they weren't playing enough of their classic hits, so, now they are playing "the same songs over and over again". Thanks, fans. :ok:

You're also kind of contradicting yourself. "All the new albums tours are more of the same (6 new songs)" and "we just wanna see some new songs in different tours". What?

This I disagree with. AI may be pushed in every aspect of our lives at the moment, but saying every one is using it is simply untrue. Especially in metal, man bands have shied away from using AI, while those who did end up rightfully skewered by their fanbase. It is incredibly hypocritical for musicians, who are artists as well, to cheap out on paying real illustrators and animators. Hell, we've started seeing entirely AI generated "music" and "bands" that are flooding Spotify with albums every week. We don't have to accept those scummy practices, we can and should call that out and support real art and artists as well.

AI isn't inherently bad. In data science or computer science there are so many interesting and innovative things one can do with models trained on specific data sets. I actually did exactly that for my machine learning assignment at uni. My issue is the use of generative AI, which uses copyrighted material without licenses or even permission to train their models. OpenAI, one of the largest contributors to said technology, has outright stated that their models wouldn't be able to be as sophisticated without stealing copyrighted materials.
There was a card playing videogame that released a while ago, that uses AI for the artwork on the cards, and art trained entirely on the works of a single illustrator (I think one of the designers for the Persona games actually). You'd think that this would be fine, that the creator is involved in the training of the model and that everything would be legally and ethically sound, right? Turns out this model obviously used copyrighted material in its training as well and could perfectly (more or less) recreate a variety of things like Elsa of Frozen or the Superman logo.

Bottom line: Real artists are being hurt and are losing out on job opportunities due to the over use of AI. Musicians have been complaining about Spotify and streaming in general making it difficult to make a living nowadays, but then some of them turn around to screw over fellow artists, despite knowing how difficult times are? Sorry, but that's not something we should accept just because some bands are fine with doing that. I certainly will keep complaining and calling out any band that does stuff like that. Cradle Of Filth used AI for the album cover of a live album they released a couple of years ago, got shit for it, and thankfully stopped using AI. We can make a difference.

Hear, hear!

RE: Seeing new songs on new tours, I took another look at the number of songs I've seen at Maiden gigs, considering I've only seen them four times, it's quite a list:

Maiden England - 4/8/2013 (17 songs):

Moonchild
Can I Play With Madness?
The Prisoner
2 Minutes to Midnight
Afraid to Shoot Strangers
The Trooper
Number of the Beast
Phantom of the Opera
Run to the Hills
Wasted Years
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
The Clairvoyant
Fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden
Aces High
The Evil That Men Do
Running Free

The Book of Souls Tour - 28/5/2017 (10 new songs):

If Eternity Should Fail
Speed of Light
Wrathchild
Children of the Damned
Death or Glory
The Red and the Black
Powerslave
The Great Unknown
The Book of Souls
Blood Brothers

Legacy of the Beast Tour - 11/8/2018 (8 new songs):

Where Eagles Dare
The Clansman
Revelations
For the Greater Good of God
The Wicker Man
Sign of the Cross
Flight of Icarus
Hallowed Be Thy Name

The Future Past Tour - 8/7/2023 (9 new songs):

Caught Somewhere in Time
Stranger in a Strange Land
The Writing on the Wall
Days of Future Past
The Time Machine
Death of the Celts
Heaven Can Wait
Alexander the Great
Hell On Earth

Bringing my new total to 44. Still reeling over some of these.

Two years after this post and I'm still reeling over some of these songs

So, 44 songs across four tours, that's an average of eleven new songs per show, though actual figures are closer to ten. Granted, if I were seeing RFYL (which I'm not <_<) it would only be three new songs. But, a further two songs (the Seventh Son numbers) I haven't seen in twelve years, Powerslave hasn't been in the set for eight years, and those three new songs haven't been in a Maiden set since before I became a fan, and that was sixteen years ago.

I think you are mentioning the AMOLAD tour. I think that was one of the best tours I witnessed, I saw that one twice and I have zero complaints (Wish that I could see that more at the time).

I (and many fans like me) really appreciate the band plays 6 songs (in avarage) from their new album each time. The second "new" in that sentence means "new" song from their retro career, which haven't been played / for quite of time.

Does anyone know if Live at Donnington & A Real Live Dead One CDs are still available anywhere? Have been looking for these for years and need them to complete my live collection. I doubt Parlophone re-released these like they did for the others

A final update from Hungary (for anyone who finds this interesting).

Between the two shows (morning/afternoon of May 28th), I explored Buda (the hilly, western side of the city). There are many beautiful buildings (the castle, Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion). I refueled with langos (Hungarian street food - deep fried dough covered with cheese and sour cream).

The next day, I took a train to Pécs. (I only slept four hours after getting back from the concert, but I dozed off most of the ride). I visited the mausoleum (a collection of Christian tombs and burial chapels from the late Roman Empire - and a UNESCO World Heritage Site). After I hiked up into the hills north of the city (not overly interesting - and I got caught in the rain again). I visited an art museum (small and overpriced), got dinner, then lounged around the town square. It was a 15+ hour day.

After six very long days, I decided that yesterday would be about self-indulgence. I spent two hours at the Gellért Thermal Bath. I've never been to a spa before and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Two hours flew by. I got a drink and slice of cake at Café Gerbeaud. I visited the Ludwig Museum (contemporary art gallery - it was okay) and Heroes Square. I went to one of the ruins bars (it was Friday night and completely packed - I had a shot of pálinka and left within half an hour). I had another dessert, a chimney cake, on the walk to the hotel.

According to my phone, I averaged 27 kilometers per day during my seven full days in Budapest. Not bad for a 40 year old. I'm still hungry.

The reason I post these summaries is because Iron Maiden's music has encouraged me to learn more about history and literature. This was my 4th time travelling to see one of their concerts. Each time I learn a bit more about the world, and I'm grateful for that.

Let me give all of you an example. Imagine you're a new fan and you first saw Maiden on the first Legacy tour and then you went to see them on the 2nd one, Future Past tour and the current one. Do you know how many different songs you saw live in 7 years? 40. So our imaginary friend saw 25% of Maiden's discography live in the space of 7 years. So, they are playing different songs live.
In here, we compare this tour with a tour that happened 17 years ago and another one that happened 20 years ago, which is unfair imo.

This post might be more suitable for a thread dedicated to a lighter, more trivial content, but since it would spoil a song that is being played, I'm posting it here instead.
Intrigued by the dates displayed in the animation during Wasted Years (and since I had plenty of free time ), I noted most of them down and had fun searching for connections — historical events, releases, and more — linked to the band. A couple are still missing, and the last one, set in the future, remains a mystery. Here you go!

Date of new album confirmed.

Anybody have list of trivial content during Ides of March video?

Does anyone know if Budapest shirt will be available for sale later this year? Or is it available for club members right now?
I missed it and link I had for the shirt says:

"This item is not available in (my country) or is only available to members."

I think it was only available for 48 hours.

Cool and effective video intro, it sets the mood visually so well. They could have done it back in 2005.

I spotted: Ruskin Arms, Cart & Horses, the whole setting from the Killers cover, West Ham emblem on a house (Steve's house?), Steve's blue bass and Dave's first Strat on the streets, lots of Maiden posters on the subway...

22 Acacia Avenue

The Blind Beggar - pub in London with a bit of history. I guess Maiden played there in the 70s. Here is a picture of the band outside it

Green Goddess - the original Ed Force

The Bridge House - another Maiden used to play when they started out

Leytonstone Station. Probably close to where Steve used to live or something

Possibly a few more
