RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

You'd think we were asking for a set of back in the village, sun and steel, infinite dreams, only the good die young and fates warning etc

All I and some others have said is it would have been cooler to swap out literally one boring classic for one deep cut. That's all lol

Here's how difficult the songs are for Harris to play (in my opinion):
  • Murders in the Rue Morgue - it's fast, but not too difficult. (The toughest part is the intro with the harmonics, which is played from a tape).
  • Wrathchild - this one is tougher than many people think, but not too bad overall.
  • Killers - pretty tough. A real workout for the right hand.
  • Phantom of the Opera - very tough. One of the most difficult songs in their catalogue. Speed, complexity and endurance.
  • The Number of the Beast - not too bad.
  • The Clairvoyant - fairly straightforward. (I find the biggest challenge is I tend to overcomplicate it, and play too many notes. It's not too bad if you keep it simple).
  • Powerslave - a fun, active bassline, but it's not too difficult.
  • 2 Minutes to Midnight - another very active bassline, but again not too challenging.
  • Rime of the Ancient Mariner - one of their toughest songs. Yes, a lot of it is a simple mid-tempo gallop, but you have to consider the sheer length, the mini bass solo, and the section where he's playing lead and rhythm simultaneously ("the curse it lives on in their eyes...")
  • Run to the Hills - straightforward
  • Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - objectively it's fairly straightforward, despite the length. (My biggest challenge is keeping time during the quiet part).
  • The Trooper - straightforward
  • Hallowed be the Name - surprisingly simple on bass
  • Iron Maiden - also simple
  • Aces High - somewhat tough
  • Fear of the Dark - straightforward
  • Wasted Years - straightforward
A few observations. Harris is playing some very difficult material here. The stretch from "Killers" to "Rime" is quite challenging. That might explain some of the seemingly questionable sequencing - I assume Harris wanted to get the really difficult songs out of the way earlier on. The final seven songs are actually fairly straightforward (in terms of both technical complexity, and stamina required). I'm sure this was by design. I thought "Bring Your Daughter..." had a good chance of coming back simply because it would have been a good breather for Harris. (Another observation - unlike on the past few tours, he doesn't play an acoustic bass this time).

Seriously. Please listen to the original recordings before you make rash comments about new parts, since as SIASL has thought us, sometimes those parts were actually on the original recording (Janick playing a melody line in the tail end of the solo that IIRC was originally a synth line that upset many people because of a YouTube video shot right in front of his monitor making it sound overpowering) and they felt like resurrecting them.

Once again, Adrian’s Lado guitars are such a nice addition. To me, they look way more badass than Fenders. Also, a great throwback to the golden days of ’84–’85. I’d say Adrian’s Lados are the equivalent of James’s ESPs.

It's the one I'm suspecting the most of using AI. There are plenty of really well done animations throughout the show and I'm sure most of it was done by human artists. But there are certain scenes (mostly in Rime) that give legitimacy to the AI complaints.

It definitely looks like AI tat that one.

This isn't a man's work. I assume that what the guy's holding is supposed to be a bow (a crossbow?), but... Well, yeah. Doesn't really resemble one.

The ship itself changes its' appearance. Sometimes it looks like a ship you could see in the Pirates of the Carribean movies, sometimes it looks like an older ship from the Columbus era. The waves look weird as well. I haven't seen all of the new animations yet, but this one is definitely AI-made.

We dont need to pretend, because it is true.

This tour they are playing 32 songs back to back every show. That is impressive.

St.Anger songs were played in last few years. Mostly Frantic and Dirty Window.

And next year they are releasing a lot of stuff for 30 yrs of Load Album and that is their least popular album after St.Anger.
32 songs divided into two nights. So what? And how many of those songs are “deep cuts”?

To be fair, Metallica simply doesn't have too many deep cuts... Because they play them live. Of course, they do have some more obscure songs, but they keep coming back to most of their classic stuff. The only track from the first 4 albums that hasn't been played in the 21st century yet is Eye of the Beholder. On the current tour they're playing stuff like Until It Sleeps, King Nothing, Ktulu - these aren't their most beloved/known tracks.

If you look at Metallica's setlists, you usually won't see the "first time since xxxx" note, but that's because they don't retire their songs for decades. And there's a good chance that you'll hear something you haven't heard yet.

M72 - 50 songs played in total
Worldwired - 73
Death Magnetic - 79

I feel I should point out that Metallica's song rotation is in fact larger than that, because they don't stick to two static setlists but rather swap songs out with each date with various slots rotating between multiple songs, and on this particular run they've debuted "new" songs from the album mid-tour at random dates. But I'm sure their production is so minuscule that it's really easy for them to do that, unlike Iron Maiden, who have a screen.

How many songs from Maiden’s current tour are deep cuts? Killers and Murders in the Rue Morgue?

I’m not disappointed that Back In The Village, Sun and Steel, etc., etc is not being played. This is all based off the Metallica / Maiden comparison. Like I’m supposed to be blown away that Metallica decided to play 32 different songs stretched over two nights and because they do it, Maiden should too. It’s an asinine argument. Honestly I find it to be a stupid model to begin with. Not everyone can go to two shows in two nights in the fear of missing out.
