I have to say that I think the second, progressive half of the album slays the first half. Songs like Mother and Coming Home just don't have the great songwriting of the later tracks. Granted, the second half of the album's "weak link" is TMWWBK, although it's still a pretty solid song. But the other four are amazing; lately I can't stop listening to Starblind and Talisman. It seems Davey's writing just wasn't up to par with H's or Jan's on this one.
 
The second half of TFF contains arguably the most solid five consecutive songs the band has ever recorded, therefore the front end can't help but seem a little weak in comparison. However, Mother of Mercy is a fascinating song in my opinion....intricate and heavy. The Alchemist is one of their finer rockers of the modern era. El Dorado perfectly captures the sinister evil ways of the b(w)ankers. And I am yet to skip thru Satellite 15 as it sets up the album perfectly. The album is a treat, a classic.
 
Coming Home, The Alchemist, Isle of Avalon, and Starblind are just killer. For me, it's four great songs in a row.

I wish I could jump on the Coming Home masterpiece bandwagon!
 
Wow I get that it's awesome, but I don't rate it a 10 like most people. I guess I think it's overrated.
