I think the right word is leucism: there is no pigmentation of the fur, but the eyes are not red as in albinism.

And yes, they are soooo cute...
Wouldn't meet them for real though, I want to keep all my limbs!

I might be over-simplifying the question, but they appear to be turning colour. They are no longer photosynthesizing, and therefore do not produce chlorophyll, the stuff that makes them green.

Yep, Battlemaniacs is right. The quote is from Suetonius, Life of Augustus, and refers to his daughter Julia and two of her children, Julia and Agrippa Postumus, all of whom were exiled.
