Random trivia

And you know why England was called Albion? Because of the cliffs so common in the southern british beaches, that are color white. In latin, white is written Albus, so Albion would be white land. I got a question: What was the nationality of the guy that invented broadcasted video recordings?

Which two non-jazz* bands/acts/artists have released studio albums over the longest period of time without interruption, since the first album? With this period without interruption I mean: since the first album release, the act has (at least) released one studio album every following year.

So this is more about the number of years without interruption instead of the number of albums.

* I deliberately say "non-jazz" because in jazz many artists kept recording and releasing, almost non-stop.
** The question I ask and the answer I have in mind come forth from self made trivia, so I admit that I am not entirely sure of the answer. I have two particular bands in mind, but if anyone knows other acts with at least as many or even more years of such releases as described, please enlighten me!

First hint: These two bands have not achieved the same in this context.
So there's one clear winner, and one number two.

EDIT: see the following discussion:
Sixes guessed two acts which have a larger number of uninterrupted years than the bands I had in mind, namely Johnny Cash and Tangerine Dream! Impressive stuff:
Johnny Cash: 1957-1988. 32 uninterrupted years of studio albums released!
Tangerine Dream: 1970-1992: 23 uninterrupted years of studio albums released!

So to my original question should now be added: next to Johnny Cash and Tangerine Dream. Read on to see guesses and hints.

Bob Dylan has stayed pretty consistent since 1962, I think the longest break between an album is three years.

Tangerine Dream has released a shit load of albums since 1970.

Thanks for trying Sixes! Dylan released lots of studio albums. But he did not release a studio album in 1968 and there were more and longer gaps. So the Bob Dylan number of years as described in my previous post is only 6 (1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967).

Wow what an amount! Great guess. I was not aware of them. I just noticed they did not release a studio album in 1977 and there are a few more gaps. So the Tangerine Dream number of years as described in the post in which I asked the question is 7 (1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976).

The bands I have in mind have a bigger number of years.

However, TD do have a long uninterrupted stream of studio albums in the later part of their career (1999-2011).

Looking through my music collection I get the following results for most consecutive studio albums without more than a 1 year gap.

David Bowie: 11
Deep Purple: 10
Rolling Stones: 10 (unless you count US/UK releases with marginal track differences separately, when its higher)

EDIT: Nevermind, after your last post I just realised you wanted number of YEARS not number of albums >.<

They put out Sorcerer in that year but it was composed for a movie. Could still count as a studio album. Like "More" and "Obscured By Clouds" are Pink Floyd studio albums made for movies.

Cheers Crimson. I forgot about Bowie! But he did not release a studio album in 1968. Later on he had a good string of years though (1969-1977). And remember, it's not about the number of albums. It's about the number of years. In that regard:

Deep Purple: 8 (first interruption: 1978)
Rolling Stones: 6 (first interruption: 1970)

They put out Sorcerer in that year but it was composed for a movie. Could still count as a studio album. Like "More" and "Obscured By Clouds" are Pink Floyd studio albums made for movies.
In that case, they are the winners. Cheers to Sixes! :okok:
Tangerine Dream --> 1970-1992: 23 uninterrupted years of studio albums released!

I still hope you guys would like to continue guessing what I had in mind when I started this. The bands I am looking for are big names in rock.

Aye Foro, I'd accounted for the lack of 68 but I was going on number of albums rather than years, hence my numbers being a bit larger ;p Mis-read on my part there.
