Yeah, but promotion was almost at zero. Now the hype for an album just fade away - a month after the release. Good job Mr Smallwood...

What the fuck, man. First you complain the hype is dying down, now you complain they're promoting it in October. What the fuck, seriously. Make up your fucking mind.

That cover I showed you is from August, btw.
That’s why I’ve asked him if he’s serious or trolling. Same dude who said LOTB tour was not selling…

Magazine covers are an awfully funny thing to use as a success metric in 2021 (where very few people read magazines for the most part).

There, I was reeled in. Off to the mists now I go.

Same guy who quit the forum in a rage because Maiden were old and boring. It’s not even criticism, it’s blind pessimism bordering on gleeful hatred. What a twat.
It's rather blatantly obvious he just wants to be the main character of Maidenfans. If the mods don't feel like being deliberately disruptive by constantly arguing in bad faith and refusing to concede even the obvious points after he's proven wrong, and just generally trolling people with inane bullshit about how the band is doomed isn't enough for a ban, then everyone should just start ignoring everything he says. Otherwise this cycle will keep repeating.

A new review by Nathan Le Solliec in the new issue of the french magazine Guitare Xtrême. :)

"A 40 years long career for a 17th album : an Iron Maiden release is always a global event, especially after all the numerous crucibles the band went through. Almost exactly 6 years after ‘The Book Of Souls’, the british guys come back with a gigantic ‘Senjutsu’. Without becoming « prog », the sextet is ongling on longer and more dense tracks since few albums. The last one is a part of this lineage and is really succesful. Even if we can regret few lengths due to some redudants patterns, it is necessary to underline the total implication of all the bandmembers during the writing process. Recorded near Paris in 2019, the album is offering us this very spontaneous mix of raw, honest and sincere tracks, while benefiting from an excellent songwriting. The three guitarists share the job all along the discs, even if Adrian Smith is the main soloist in here. Dave Murray is not left out, signing a Hendrix-kind chorus on “Darkest Hour”, while Janick Gers co-wrote two songs with the unavoidable Steve Harris. All for a final rendering that aligns the moments more epic than the others. We can’t wait to see again Bruce Dickinson and the band on stage as their swan song is still stifled by impressive martial hymns."

I checked a few music magazines like Revolver Magazine & US Rolling Stone (September & October issues) There's no trace of Maiden anywhere, no reviews, no interviews, nothing at all. Just Metallica, Metallica, Foo Fighters and that sort of crap.
Maiden sells 64000 physical copies the first week with a double album being #3 in the Billboard 200 album chart and there is no any paragraph dedicated. Just unbelievable. But at the end is what Rod and the band wants, isn't it?

But how their marketing works? If they do more PR and magazines as in 2015 the final result would be a way better. Management didn't wanna spend some money and so same it was in many different countries. They just released this album and... Nothing. The album was released as "hurry up" with extremely short pre order period and poor press and generally music media marketing. Great "strategy" Phantom Management... Even Helloween's latest album was better promoted than SENJUTSU - after 6 years of waiting for.

Revolver used to be a traditional hard rock metal magazine like Metal Hammer but a couple years ago drastically changed their look and the music they cover. Rolling Stone did give Senjutsu a great review but they have never paid attention to Maiden to begin with.

That's right but Maiden management should prepare everything a way better and give fans more time. And now they're doing nothing with the album - probably will be back when SENJUTSU Tour stars next year (as we hope). Even the latest Judas Priest album was a way better promoted in 2018. Shame on Smallwood once again...

Well… they've spent 20M bucks to make a couple of wonderful videos for the fans. Can you imagine what happened if they were spend that bunch of money to promote the album in the press, radio or whatever?…But they're not mainstream
