@bearfan Agreed on everything. I’d like to see Eugenio Suárez at the hot corner but I’m not sure that Arizona will be selling. I’m a big fan of Shaw’s defense but he needs a trip down to AAA to work on his hitting.

As for pitching, I’m hoping they don’t sell the farm to get a mediocre pitcher(s). Sandy Alcantara is a name I often see mentioned, but he’s been bad and I don’t want to see Jed give up someone like Owen Caissie to get him.

How do you feel about Hoyer to this point?

I think he is being hamstrung on budget, but there is no doubt that Shota and Seya were great signings from Japan. The Tucker trade was great (much greater if they can sign him long term). Bush was a great trade, and guys like Keller, Pomerantz, and Flexxen were great bargain basement signings for the pen. I think the ownership needs to open up the checkbook and let them add salary at the deadline and pony up on Tucker.

With the right deadline additions and some health luck, there is no reason why this team cannot compete for it all this year and if they re-sign Tucker cannot compete most every year.

I do think, sadly, Cassie probably needs to get traded. If he does, it needs to be for more than a rental, and they need to re-sign Tucker. Cassie for a rental, and Tucker walking would be horrible in the long term

I’d love to see the Jays win the AL East. Anyone but the Yanks or Red Sox, honestly. I like the Rays, too.

How about Schwarbs? Getting rid of him was one of the Cubs’ biggest mistakes ever.
