People end up cheering for a particular team for so many different reasons. Being an avid Championship Manager-Football Manager player, I know people who cheer for Athletic Bilbao in La Liga because of their years long experience managing them in Football Manager - they're sort of the "hard mode" in those games due to the Basque-only policy. Or people cheering for clubs due to the perceived political affiliations of their fanbases. For West Ham, the Iron Maiden angle is actually a pretty significant one - I'm sure there are people who started supporting West Ham through Iron Maiden.

I'm watching the Newcastle vs Manchester City FA Cup match. Dwight Gayle just missed a tap in after Ottamendi gave away possession, then two minutes later a rare bit of Route One football from City led to a brilliant goal from Raheem Sterling. I bet Dwight Gayle is relieved there are no fans in the stadium now. It was a terrible miss.

League of Ireland back on July 31st with the season reduced to only half the amount of games as a usual season (we have a summer football season Feb - Nov). 5 games have already been played meaning only 13 more left. My team in a strong position being top of the table having won all 5 games played including the away derby and our home game to the title rivals.

WTF seems we (Shamrock Rovers) are rumoured to be playing an away friendly against PSG? I could understand playing them in Tallaght in a normal year as a money making exercise, but travelling abroad for a game now, can't see what would be in it for PSG, we wouldn't be much of a challenge for them.

This game isn't an indicator of anything in that regard. Most of these players have barely recovered from their hangovers.
