Official Football Thread

As long as people aren't running around in the corridors at work singing YNWA I'm OK. And by OK I mean I won't hurt myself or anyone else over this, I'm not going to go out and get COVID-19 because nothing matters anymore or jump off a bridge. And I'm not going to go and punch someone in the face just because.

But of course, I hope they'll have to wait another 30 years for their next title.

I didn't realize that you were a Liverpool fan @Forostar.
He is when they win.

On a slightly different note: Liverpool's first title in 30 years happened just as this thread reached page 666 ...

It's a bit mad that when I started watching football, Utd were in a period where they wouldn't win the title for 27 years, and now Liverpool have just ended 30 years without the title, for the top two teams in terms of title wins to have such a huge drought seems bizarre.

They both really won the bulk of their titles in purple patches, liverpool 72-90, united, 92-2013, rather than having had constant success.

Norwich certainly were hoping for penalty shootout tonight. IT was denied them after Harry Maguire scored a true defender's goal. More or less threw himself after the ball and tackled it in :D

Still a chance for silverware for United this season.

A guy on the metro in a West Ham shirt tonight made me think:
Can you support another football team and still be a Maidenfan?
Up the Irons!

Or do you mean why the hell would anyone outside England be an English club's fan?
I think that's not unheard of.

Stop preaching. Everyone's allowed to support whoever they want, for whatever reasons they want. Don't be salty your club never won anything.

I am not salty. You want to see salt then look at your recent posts in this thread.
Then there are those bizarre Norwegian Sunderland and Middlesbrough fans. They actually come over and go to matches too.
Some people are real suckers for punishment.

Apart from the old 'prawn sandwich' gag about Man Utd. Because the bulk of Man U fans actually attending matches at one time were home counties yuppies who woudn't have been seen dead standing on the terraces or queuing for a half time pie or Bovril.
