Lots of derbies today:

Dundee United v Dundee
Newcastle v Sunderland
Torino v Juventus
Manchester City v Manchester United
Galatasaray v Fenerbahce
Sparta Prague v Slavia Praha

The first one is the big one of course.

The Tyne-Wear derby leaves Rafa still waiting for his first win as Newcastle manager :innocent:

Liverpoolooooooool

Against all odds, Man Utd can still get back in the race for CL if they beat City today who have Mangala and Demichelis in the defence.

Problem is that United has Rashford and an out-of-form Martial as the main strike force. But yes, big advantage for United that Kompany is out.

I wouldn't say Martial is out of form. Think he had only 2-3 truly bad games this season, all when he played right wing. Even when the whole team is playing bad, he still creates 1 or 2 big goal chances all on his own.

Maybe you're right, it's more a problem of him being played out wide where he doesn't get into good positions often. I hope Rashford plays in the wide role today.

Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby will be played without a crowd due to security concerns. Yeah, punish the home team in a derby because you can't ensure the security of your city. What about the people who travelled from other cities to attend the match?

Just cancel the damn match if you wanna go that route.

Match has been cancelled after Galatasaray's request. Such a shame. Our government can't ensure our safety.

What I meant to say was: City's problem is that United have Rashford up front :D

@Black Wizard - damn right. Demichelis is having a stinker. He lost Rashford before the goal, and he was guilty of what should've been a penalty for Utd just before half time.

I really, really hope Pellegrini keeps him on the pitch.

So, Van Gaal would've preferred to use Fellaini yesterday, but had to go with Schneiderlin ...

"But today he played a very good match. He was a lot of times available to receive the pass but also defensively was very firm and strict and he played also a very important position in midfield. I was very happy especially because I had to rotate. Fellaini could not play the fourth game in a row."

Come again?

Not-so-fun trivia: Galatasaray defender Jason Denayer was in Ankara for an away game during the Ankara explosion on the 13th. He then went back to Istanbul for a home game and was there during the Istanbul explosion on the 19th. He then flew to Brussels to join the Belgium national team and was there during the Brussels attacks on the 22nd.

Holy cow......

Johan Cruijff, best footballer of the Netherlands (ever) and one of the best in the world, died.

This comes as a shock. This legend made such a difference in the clubs he played and coached for... He brought Ajax to the absolute top of Europe. When he went to Barca, the club won the title for the first time in fourteen years.
Cruijff and Michels were also responsible for the success of Oranje, at the World Cup 1974. In the end, the Netherlands lost the final, but the "total football" of captain Cruijff en the others made a huge impression.

Yes, he had lung cancer, we knew he was ill, but last month he said that he was beating the disease.
