Are you telling me I can't have an opinion on things I haven't tried personally?
And why should Scots care about what people think of English football?

I think it's perfectly acceptable to ask why a Serbian Manchester United fan who has never been to England hates Liverpool. The cultural rivalry between the cities and football clubs probably doesn't make itself felt to international fans.

A rival is a rival, no matter the reason. As an Arsenal fan I don't "hate" Tottenham, Chelsea or other London teams per se, but I cheer for their opponents.

Besides, I never said it was unacceptable to ask.

You can't hate a food without having sampled it first.

Would you taste shit to make sure it's not good?

My point is that this is not the first time you remark on the fact that people outside the UK have strong positive or negative feelings about English teams. English football does not belong to the English anymore. Not since teams opened up to international markets.

I'm not suggesting that foreigners can't watch it. I'm suggesting that a foreigner hating Liverpool because it's the done thing is irrational and perhaps even bigoted.

Doesn't fandom make people irrational and bigoted in the first place? Overvaluing your players, thinking your team is stronger than it actually is, defending them when they actually might be on the wrong side, etc.

I'm sure that everyone has their reasons to hate a team. I doubt that somebody decides to hate a team just because they have heard that's how it's done. Whether you think those reasons are acceptable is an entirely different matter.

Isn't supporting a football team irrational by definition? And isn't that where the fun is?

Are you suggesting that irrational hatred is fun or that supporting a football team is fun?

The latter of course, but the former also a little bit. I get a kick out of hating Schalke, and I'm not even a big footie fan.

Ever since I started watching football I never liked Liverpool's players, add the rivalry with United which is my favorite English team, then the CL final against Milan, their constant talk about their history etc.

Hatred for Chelsea started when they took away my favorite Milan player, Shevchenko.

The way this was written down, hmm, it would probably sound kinda robotic and maniacal. And short with 5 syllables.

I don't think it would sound as spontaneous and loud as some of the laughs in that oxygenless hotel room in Stockholm.
