NOW WATCHING

I watched 'The Truman Show' and 'G.I. Joe'.

The Truman show was great; a powerful story with believable, and emotional acting.

G.I. Joe was funny in an unintentional way.  There are all these super hot chicks obviously there to serve as eye candy.  While fighting and talking they're highly masculanized despite their sexiness.  It was interesting at first but got old soon.  There were a few good action scenes.

The Truman Show is one of the few films that actually gained relevance since their release. When I look at the current anti-intellectual reality TV, I feel that the wrong lessons have been drawn from this film.

Not to mention that it is indeed a great piece of cinematography.

Like the Truman Show, "Network," is a movie that is very scary to watch even though it is over 30 years old...

I saw This Is It, today.

Amazing how well Michael was performing, not long before his death.

A very interesting and also quite exciting document. Historical, but also nice to watch. And listen to this great music, cool to see how those rehearsals went. How much everyone was into it.

I went to see Clash of the Titans yesterday, which I found quite enjoyable but hardly earth-shattering. It was the first film which I've seen in 3-D, and I didn't find the effects all that impressive, but by all accounts this wasn't a great example of the 3-D experience.

It still blows my mind how many people paid to watch what amounts to DVD bonus features... Not that there's anything wrong with that... just saying...

I saw 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'.  The movie is so much better than I expected, especially since the ending of the trilogy was disappointing.  There's plenty of action and character development.  The movie focuses on Wolverine, no duh.  His origins here differ from the trilogy, where he grows his adamantium claws after being forced into a Nazi concentration camp.  In the 'Origins' movie he has a traumatic experience in the Canadian North.

Saw "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", which is in limited release in the U.S. (Swedish film, with subtitles).  My wife is reading the book, but I don't have much time for reading any more so I took the shortcut.  Kept my interest for the full 2.5 hours, which is saying something.  Pretty sophisticated whodunit film with a fair amount of gratuitous nudity and violence thrown in -- which I applaud.  I'd give it a 7 out of 10, and would recommend it.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand...

EPIC SHIT!!!!!!!!

First 3 episodes was kinda... Meh!
But everything after 4 is PURE GENIUS!!!

Seriously recommended... tits, and blood, and tits, and more tits and blood. good stuff.

As I noted in my latest post in this thread, I am all in favor of gratuitous nudity and violence.  That said, I gave up on Spartacus because it is pretty atrocious, in my opinion.  HBO's series Rome was basically the same idea, but MUCH better written and acted.  Titus Pullo is one of my favorite TV characters in the last five years or so.  So, AJ, if you like Spartacus, you should definitely pick up the DVD of the Rome series.  Don't worry, there is PLENTY of nudity and violence in that show too.

While there is no nudity (or little) as far as TV goes I LOVE Breaking Bad on AMC. Nothing better for an anti-hero than a cancer-ridden Chemestry teacher turned Meth producer/dealer with an ex-student as his lackey/partner.

Breaking Bad is awesome.

Just turned on the tv and saw the end of American Idol.  Mary J Blige singing Stairway to Heaven, with Randy Jackson, Travis Barker and (I think) Steve Vai as the backing band.  Egads.

Seen it, loved it, have it...

My love for that show was one of the things that made me fall in love with S:B&S...

You've just hit on all the reasons why I can't stand the show.

not into tits..?

I don't like plot points strung together to give an excuse for another sex scene. If I wanted to see that I'd just watch porn.

So what? It's porn with a plot! If you're lucky they marry at the end, so you can even watch it with your girlfriend!

If you want porn with a plot it's called the '70s. Or more recently the porn version of pirates of the Caribean, which was so successful it spawned a sequal that got a mainstream theater release in Cali and I think NY. It's got, from reviews I've read, but I do want to see it, don't get me wrong lol, good action, decent effects, STORY and of course lots of pirate sex :)
