Bring Your Daughter… to the Slaughter is pure, unapologetic rock ’n’ roll swagger - catchy, cheeky, and impossible not to sing along to. It strips things down to a dirty, stomping groove and just leans into the fun instead of overthinking it. Iron Maiden aren’t trying to be grand or epic here - they’re just having a blast, and it shows. Sometimes that raw, playful energy is exactly what makes a track memorable.

 
This would be Maiden’s over-the-top, no-holds-barred, hard-rocking answer to choose your own poison - say, Painkiller - a full-on, testosterone-fueled, good-time metal ride. The kind of album you throw on just to crank it up, have fun, and smash a few bottles of beer along the way.

Ayreon’s Actual Fantasy - strangely, I liked this one much more than the debut. It feels more focused, maybe more straightforward? Even though, as far as I understand, the first album is generally held in higher regard.

I really enjoyed the dreaminess of this record - its ethereal, almost trance-inducing atmosphere. My favorite on first listen is “Computer Eyes.”

James Dean Bradfield - Even in Exile (2020)

Second solo album by the Manic Street Preachers' singer/guitarist, a concept album about the poet and activist Victor Jara, tortured and murdered in 1973 by Pinochet's fascist regime, with lyrics by the poet and playwright Patrick Jones (Nicky Wire's older brother). The album has a bit of everything: prog, folk, alternative rock... Very different to his first solo album but great nonetheless.
