NOW PLAYING

Yeah, I think it's a very good album, very enjoyable. Every song is catchy, It sounds very modern and very fresh. It seems that the guy has been a very fun period writting and recording this stuff.

Listening to the album as I post this. I agree it is quite enjoyable. Nothing ground-breaking but good songs that at times remind me of Status Quo for obvious reasons.

Francis Rossi will be doing a gig in Woking later in the year, not far from where this blue plaque can be found:

Tailgunner - War In Heaven

Another single winner, 4 out of 4! This time it's a ballad, the band says that KK challenged them to write an 80s-sounding ballad. It stars with keys, then beautiful calm strings (subtle Strange World vibe). The verses are really good, remind me of HammerFall, while the pre-chorus is Helloween-esque. The chorus is effective, again, it's important. Guitar fills are classic (Priest vibe). The longer solo is a must for a ballad, very good, cool and effective one.

Hmm, I think this time Thin Lizzy borrowed something from Iron Maiden, since the Killers album was recorded and released several months earlier. It even sounds 100% like Maiden — production-wise as well. Is it from “The Ides of March”? And the lick is repeated at the end of the song.

And on this song, Thin Lizzy even slip into a Crazy Train–style interlude break. Ozzy’s Blizzard of Ozz had been released a year earlier. (At 2:30 mark)
