Just found on the web this: KISS Frontman Admits He Thinks Sound of Band's Debut Album Sucks, Says He Was 'Never a Fan of 1st Three Albums, Sonically'
"It was mixed. I'm gonna be honest with you... I thought the album sounded pretty crummy...

"I was never a fan of the first three albums, sonically. We were bombastic, this band, live, was thunder. And on albums, it sounded a little rinky-dink to me.

"I didn't know how to make it sound better, but I knew that it wasn't the way we sounded. And to that end, you have to remember that it wasn't until 'KISS Alive!' that the band broke.

"In other words, it wasn't until [the 1975 live album] 'KISS Alive!' that the band really became successful - because people would come to see us live and love what they saw - then you put the album on and go, 'Well that doesn't sound like the band I saw...'

WTF? Is he deaf or something? (pun intended) Imo, their debut is a very strong contender for their best album overall. And for a debut, the sound is at least very good—if not great.

Also, Stanley isn’t too fond of that album’s cover art. Again, imo, that cover slams—it’s simply great. Attitude, black, and glitter.

Not 1980 Prowler but not bad!
I'm a big fan of Prowler '88 version. Bruce's vocals at that time suit it and (a perfect example of) the production makes it shine even more, especially Dave's solo. Like the drums & rhythm guitar production for Bruce's version of Bring Your Daughter, it's the same.

The originals are perfect, but too bad they didn't record in the studio with Bruce in 1988 and: Running Free, Sanctuary, Iron Maiden, Wrathchild, Killers/Murders. The early staples.
