I take Accident and Skunkworks over Chemical Wedding.
I'm only half-liking these posts for putting Chemical Wedding under Accident of Birth
I still listen to Chemical Wedding and would place it above Skunkworks, but Accident is my favourite Bruce album by a long way.

I'm only half-liking these posts for putting Chemical Wedding under Accident of Birth
Wedding is simply less colourful, especially the second half always merges into a singular mush for me. Also, the centerpiece of the record - Book of Thel - is an inferior (and more simplistic) rewrite of Aquarius, with some obnoxious strained semi-a-capella wailings (once you notice the repetitive throaty "HEYIIIIIYA-HA" in the highest vocal line in the background, you can't un-hear it again) in the middle. I always liked the album, but relatively recently I put it on right after Accident and I was surprised at how annoying did I find the experience.

I have to admit I lost my love for this band many years ago. Last album I listened to was The Seraphic Clockwork and it was quite alot to digest there. After selling a huge part of my record collection many VP albums left my house. I only kept Colour Temple and The God Thing. Those 2 remain close to my heart. After a few listening sessions I can say this album could've been released right after The God Thing too. More organic, less orchestrations and fluff. Great one indeed!

Smith/Kotzen - Black Light/White Noise
Such a cool record. Melodic ideas, solos, pure rock fun like in the 70's... congrats. It could also be a mid-90's album (like Skunkworks, the secret power). Some ideas are very strong: Darkside, Life Unchained, Muddy Water (intro), Wraith (melodic riffs), Outlaw (intro harmony), Beyond The Pale (the whole Pink Floyd vibe, also like Bruce's Sonata), Black Light (solo). Adrian could have used them for Maiden, right...
I have to listen to the debut after that.

True, and that's one of AOB's strengths. A song like Return Of The King would have been perfect there.
Their real debut! The interludes aside, classic and pure Priest. One of the best and most effective 70's metal albums. This sound and style culminated with the next 2 albums, they needed a change.

I really enjoy their music, with those 70s hard rock/blues influences Adrian has shining through.
I would say that Primal Rock Rebellion is definitely the best Maiden member solo album of the 21st century, but Smith/Kotzen are not that far in terms of brilliance. Bruce’s Tyranny of Souls was good, although a bit of a letdown after The Chemical Wedding, and the least is said about The Mandrake Project and British Lion, the better.
