Odyssey is one the most and best classic sounding albums. All killer, no filler! As a whole piece, it's special. The instrumentals are perfect.

I wished the album had a proper title track with interesting melodies and more shredding (we have them in ''Krakatau'' though). Also, given the theme of the title, the album cover should have been epic, a missed opportunity.
I agree! Also Yngwie's only gold certified album in his home country, Sweden - 50 000 sales.

American Idiot is completely unironically one of the best albums of the 00s and possibly one of the best albums of the new millennium in general. The melodic invention, the conceptuality, the seriousness, so unexpected from fucking Billie Joe Armstrong - it just screams power. It sounds like an album from a completely different band (and believe me, I've heard their entire discography), yet it sounds like the epitome of their strong qualities. I still don't get it to this day. It's like they were collectively possessed by the spirit of the still-very-living Pete Townshend or something.

(You Are What You Is, if someone couldn't read it and didn't know the cover)

Ever since I first grew facial hair during covid, people have been telling me I look like Zappa (well, Zappa or D'Artagnan) and that I took inspiration from him, despite him wearing the iconic moustache and a soul patch whereas I'm wearing a moustache and a goatee. That's a world of difference, right there!

I don't look me like no Zappa! We might be both showing our Italian heritage, we might have similar eyes and eyebrows, a similar schnozz... but I'm never gonna be Frank with you! Nosiree.

I suppose YAWYI might be just as well sporting the subtitle of Ruben and the Jets - "Is this the Mothers of Invention recording under a different name in a last ditch attempt to get their cruddy music on the radio?" - and sure, it does feel like a bit of a sell-out, inasmuch as Frank is capable of selling out, but it is also one of his most colourful albums and fun from start to finish ... and stuff like Harder Than Your Husband and Heavenly Bank Account show that he can be bloody hilarious even without drooling over own teenage daughters, "plooking" robots to death or fucking a briefcase (though that last one is so incredibly unhinged it's a wonder to behold, really).

And although most of his strawmaning religion really does not do his purported colossal intelligence justice, even I must admit that "An' the book says: He made us all to be just like him, So... If we're dumb... Then God is dumb... (an' maybe even a little ugly on the side)" got a snigger out of me at first, because of the pettiness of the ugliness and because I can't help but hear a certain amount of self-irony there as well.
