Not a band to rest on their laurels this was the third album they recorded in 1970. Released in 1971 it's an astounding progressive jazz rock piece for the adventurous.

Have fun! It's a great album - somewhat of a beginning and an end for the band. Last album to feature all of the original members ( two would join Soft Machine after this album) but also the first album where Carr takes full control of the compositions - leading the band into the future.
Not Nucleus/Ian Carr's solo output Belladonna. This is the psychedelic soundtrack to Japanese anime director Eiichi Yamamoto's 1973 witch film Kanashimi no Belladonna. Genre wise we're somewhere in the dreamy jazz psych/rock territory.
Such a vibe right from the very first crowd noises into the opener Highway Star. I think I said this before but this album - musical telepathy at it's finest!
Where Eagles Dare
New Frontier
Aces High
Caught Somewhere In Time
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Empire Of The Clouds
The Book Of Souls (he likes this song a lot, iirc)
Out Of The Shadows (a gem, according to him)
When The Wild Wind Blows (one of his favorite Steve's epics)
Senjutsu
Darkest Hour
The Parchment
