This is a solid bonus song. With more work on it, it would have made a great album song. The chorus sounds more like a post-chorus section, the acoustic part in the middle is very nice but it doesn't fit the heaviness and aggression of the song, and the ending part of the song is a repeat of the intro (not in a good way) and the chorus (works for an outro) but I think it could have been handled better. Bruce has a tendency with some of his solo songs endings. What I'm saying is that for its 7:30 minutes, the song could have had another different part. But still, it's more interesting than most songs on BTP.
The intro with the type of vocals (and 22 riff) is cool and effective, especially in the transition with the main riff. I like the verses. And the solo - one of the best solos on any solo song of Bruce! Longer, melodic, classic and with tapping, what more to ask for. It has an Adrian vibe to it. Roy wasn't the guitarist for BTP's Disc 2, right?
The other such song, the electronic ''No Way Out... Continued'' is nice too. Different, but with similar verse vocals and again, a great solo (Adrian vibe too). The chorus is not bad.
I must say, while BTP is a very different and experimental album for Bruce, its unique style and vibe is attention-catching. I would like Bruce to release more of the songs from the 3 writing sessionssomeday. It could have been a strong album - something like this (not many changes needed imo):
Balls To Picasso/Laughing In The Hiding Bush/Tears Of The Dragon [1994]
1.Cyclops 2.The Breeding House 3.Gods Of War 4.1000 Points Of Light (filler) 5.Laughing In The Hiding Bush 6.Change Of Heart 7.No Way Out... To Be Continued 8.Sacred Cowboys 9.Tears Of The Dragon
Bonus disc:
1.Hell No
2.Fire
3.Fire Child
4.No Way Out.. Continued
5.Shoot All The Clowns
6.Cadillac Gas Mask
7.Share It Or Lose It (original version of ''Armchair Hero'' played live in 1994)
Roy wasn’t involved in the first discarded album attempt, which “No Way Out..To Be Continued” was from. I believe he was also mostly uninvolved with the second album attempt with Keith Olsen, which “No Way Out…Continued” was from, but I’m sketchy on whether he was pulled into the original version of “Tears Of The Dragon” from those sessions, or if he was only pulled in for the final BTP version.
I don’t think there’s much else left that wasn’t already released. There’s a track from the Keith Olsen sessions called “Original Sin” that hasn’t seen the light of day, but I think all the stuff from the first sessions with Skin is already out there.
