Iron Maiden - These Colours Don't Run

Classic Reunion era song. Live is even better. I would like to see it again, it's written as a live favorite.

First of all, great lyrics. The dreamy intro is so fitting and great (Adrian!), the build-up it creates with the drums too. Really solid and classic drumming from Nicko. The main riff is catchy (again, thanks Adrian), while the melodic verses are awesome. The pre-chorus is one of the best parts of the song. The actual chorus is anthemic and they succeeded with it (much better than on ''Longest Day'' and ''Lord Of Light''). The highlight of the song is the instrumental section - the urgent riff, the faster drumming and the sudden start are typical classy ideas by Maiden. Both solos are great (Adrian's one is so cool; really heavy riff under Dave's one). Btw, I would have liked to hear a solo from Janick for this song too. As if all that wasn't enough, the next part is an amazing triple-lead guitar harmony that is unmistakable Maiden! The ''oh-ohs'' just makes it even better. They fit imo. Bruce's high note, the reprised intro and the gong are probably the best way to end this emotional song. :notworthy:

Also, I find the repetition in this song needed and a good idea.

Not long ago it was one of my Top 3 from the album, but the album is so strong that some of the favorites can change over the years at any time.
