NOW PLAYING

For the first 3 albums, actually (for Land Of The Free 1995 album too). I guess they wanted all of their albums to have a cover with their mascot and to maintain the fantasy theme. The new covers are better than the original ones imo.
They are 25th anniversary reissues of the albums. Alive '95 got one as well. I would assume Somewhere Out In Space has a reissue on deck for later this year, but who knows...

Featuring James Dean Bradfield from the Manics on guitar.

Britain's old and rather thin
I saw her with her dentures out, she put them in
Then mumbled something indistinct which might have been
"Nostalgia I love you"

Britain's wise after the fact
You have to give the old lady
Time to react
And now that she has learned
That facts aren't really facts
Nostalgia, she loves you!

See the ranks of non-achievers
Wear the look of true believers
Freedoms come and freedoms vanish
Ask the Poles and watch the Spanish

Britain can seem slightly smug
She likes to drink her beverage from her own mug
With on its side a picture of a tiny dug
Nostalgia, we love you

Blame the Jocks and blame the Paddys
Blame the scourge of absent daddies
Proof there is if proof were needed
That's the right-wing press succeeded

Britain's old and rather thin
I saw her with her dentures out, she put them in
And mumbled something indistinct which might have been
"Nostalgia I love you"

The world that was has now become a cause
Inspiring simple souls all over
Who have a knack of always looking back
While drunk or even sober

No matter what you may have often heard
There's been no death of satire
There's more, not less, when "thank you NHS"
Is painted on a spitfire

The world that was has now become a cause
All over

Black and white, one truth they know
The modern world will have to go

The world that was draws memories of our past
Which seem a wee bit hazy
From what I see, the summary seems to be
More meat with extra gravy

And though I feel I'm a rational man
Sometimes I'm sorely tempted
But worship of a past that never was
Is totally demented

The world that was has now become a cause
All over

''Insurrection'' from this album is one of my favorite songs of the band. Probably a Top 10 song for me.
Should have been the opener I think. The album is too long (as I already said) and I never get to it, plus it would give the album more resemblance to the first LotF.

This one is a bit older.

I can’t wait to see Martin Turner perform the album in its entirety tomorrow. Even better, he would be playing Argus in its entirety too!
