When Civ III first came out, I also thought it was inferior to Civ II. However, have you played with all the bug fixes and the Conquests expansion pack? The plain vanilla Civ III was nothing special, but it eventually developed into a great game.

No disrespect meant to Civ II, which is still very good, but there are games which can beat it. And Civ III is one of them. I'll let you know about Civ IV after Xmas.
 
I played the orginial Civ III and I thoguht it was amazing. [!--emo&:o--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/ohmy.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'ohmy.gif\' /][!--endemo--] But Alpha Centauri is still a very very good game.

oh and maiden maddness, whats SC3 like? I was tempted to buy it a while back, but Im still having fun with SC2

Agreed, I've played it for half a year and at a certain point you don't play for fun anymore but you just play to play to play to play to play (That's the feeling). It's nice to play for a little time sometimes but if not it's just like drugs.

I have also taken out the retro consoles again. I'm currently immersed in "Zelda: Ocarina of Time". It is a great game. My favourite ever with a great storyline and overall gameplay.

Goldeneye was amazing.
Even though I could never get past the 'Control' level.

Yea, Control was pretty hard but I think getting that invincibility cheat from the Facility was the hardest thing to do in the game. I still managed to get it after a few tries. If someone wants to go game online, you should try Gunbound or Rakion, Gunbound is a little boring after a while and isn't really an online game as the others but it's quite a laugh.

I'm now downloading Rakion and I expect some really good things (Found out you do have to pay).

They are usually better quality and have less viruses though. I would pay £5 a year or whatever to have a quality game without hassle. Some games are just rip offs though like membership at Runescape. Luckily that game has a free version aswell.
 
Five pounds a year is one thing, but $24.99/month? That's ridiculous. And you have to pay nigh on a hundred bucks for the game anyway...

I don't know what kind of game you are talking about but $25,- sounds like some really fat bastards sitting in a chair drinking coke watching money flow into their pockets as they do so.
 
I'm thinking of Everquest, Star Wars: Galaxies, World of Warcraft, and similar games. They really do just suck money out of your pocket.
