North American tour thread

It also resulted in N.A. not getting full scale tours of at least 30 cities while the other bands did full N.A. tours.
those are bands that have a huge N.A. fanbase. Unlike Maiden

Well, I still believe that Maiden would do very well if they did a larger N.A. tour considering all the popularity they've gained in the last 10 years.

Travis you are the man.  It is easy for European fans to brush aside  our request for more N.A shows in 2011...they have a ton of shows to go to!!  We have two shows in what is the equivalent of Timbuktu for fans not living in the South of the states.  America is huge, and Florida is forever away from someone in Minnesota {Travis} let alone California {Bornless} .

And take it easy with the {Worst fans} stuff.  The United states has some of the most rabid Maiden junkies on earth, we're just more spread out.  There were 26,000+ at my last show in So. Cal.  The band knows we love em' every bit as much as the Euros.

This is going in circles.

We got it, Maiden are terrible to their US fans. What are you going to do about it?

I was thinking and a NA tour might do worse because tons of "fans" were mad at the setlist. I cant speak for california but a lot of the people at the Denver show only knew NOTB and FOTD and wrathchild. The tour will be better received in Eurasia and S.A. where most of the fans respect the new material. Maiden might've been turned off to coming back to N.A. until the next nostalgia tour. I know I would.

Not to mention the AMOLAD didn't exactly go down a storm in the U.S., and that was even when they only did the biggest markets.

Wait... Iron Maiden is only doing two shows in the States?

That's that band with the mummy looking guy?  Is he the singer?

I've said it before and I'll say it now: this happened in the US, not Europe.

As long as you say US and Not NA im fine with it  :innocent:. Not going to lie tho the AMOLAD show had the least energetic crowd I'v seen in Toronto, but majority of the people were good sports, I remember the crowd chearing pretty loud when Bruce told us they were playing the album in full.

From my experience, the audience tends to cheer no matter what Bruce says. ;)  At Sonisphere this summer, Bruce coming on stage alone (introducing Alice Cooper, before Maiden was going to play) made the audience about as wild as if the whole band had come on stage and started playing.

Don't worry. The AMOLAD shows in Europe were also some of the least energetic shows Maiden has ever done here. But the nature of the songs on AMOLAD are also in part responsible for that. Most of them mid tempo, slow building. So the show will be thereafter.

Well, got my tickets to the Tampa show.  Myself, my wife, and my 9 year old son will be attending this year.  To any "maidenfans" interested, i'll be in section 129 according to the ticket master seating chart.  Woot!!!!

This reply is directed at anyone who frequents the Message boards from the Official website as well.  I do not.  I keep reading on the I.M official sight, that the band is adding shows in Europe due to "Overwhelming demand"  from fans.  Aren't any N.A fans overwhelmingly demanding tickets?  What is the mood over there, on a message board the Band may actually be paying attention to?  Lets drum up some overwhelming demand for the band to play more shows over here!!!
Announcing two shows within 300 miles of each other in Florida is no measure of fan-damonium.  Announce 8-10 more shows in various major cities/regions of U.S and Canada and they will sell out just as fast as those Euro dates.

I keep going back and forth on whether I want to do Florida or not but I think I'm going to pass on those shows.  Assuming they come back in 2012, I can do 5-6 shows like I did this summer for the same amount it would cost for me to do 2 shows in Florida.

Aside from seeing Maiden, I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to voluntarily go to Florida.

And, God forbid, this summer was my last live Maiden experiences I couldn't have asked for anything more.

And for the record, I saw two AMOLAD shows in the US (Philly and NJ) and had a great time at both and they both seemed to be generally well received to me.

I tallied up costs for two to do a trip from So. Cal to Florida.  And although I'm still considering it, ouch!!  Donner great point, I could easily go to say Phoenix, LA, Nor. Cal and Seattle/Vancouver in 2012 for the price of doing the cross country and back Florida shows.  But what if they don't come back in 2012?  THE HORROR!!!

That's the gamble we have to take I guess.  I'm willing to roll the dice.

But part of me still wants to see them this year.

Once you start traveling to see them, it's amazing how many more options you can consider.  For the longest time I'd only go see them if they were in the DC area.  My first out of market show was in 2000 because there was no alternative.  Then in 2006, and again in 08 and 2010.  Living 4 hours from NYC does have it's advantages.

The thing for me, is I live in Va Beach, but my son lives in Atlanta.  So I thought, "why not pick him up on the way and make a family trip of it."  I wish I had a father that would have taken me to see Maiden when I was 9.

Sounds like a fantastic trip to me!

My Dad and I went to 5 shows this summer.  He's 61 and I'm 32.  It was a great time and a trip I'll never forget.

Awesome trip to look forward to Chaos.  Sounds awesome.  I have taken my son to the last three shows [SBIT, AMOLAD and this last tour}, and the experience for both of us has been outstanding. He is all over the new album, and I really hope we get a REAL Final Frontier show [not just El Dorado}  here in the next year or so.
