I don't hate the album I just don't like it. Title track is good, and the instrumentals are OK, and that's about it. As an album it does not appeal to me at all. It has nothing to do with my favourite albums like TBOS, DOD, AMOLAD, BNW or Senjutsu. It does not have Bruce, which is another drawback for me. There is no epic like Phantom, Hallowed or Revelations, which came just before or after it. I love the Epic songs more than anything else, and the shortest song in my top ten is longer than 7 minutes (Blood Brothers). Yeah killers has tremendous bass work and it's got some really cool moments but I don't care about a lot of the individual songs that much other than the obvious ones
 
For me rhe worst albums DOD and NPFTD at the bottom and then IM and Killers but because bruce is not there. But i preffer blaze albums than DOD or Npftd.. NPFTD is an album made in the 90s with 90s sound 90s lyrics but bruce way of siniging at the structure of the songs are boring or bad ideas. Just a few imstrumental parts are really good.
 
Aiming to slim down the song arrangements is fine, but the song ideas are just so half-cooked that it never gets going into a rhythm.

This part probably makes more sense in my head, but for an album that was recorded in a barn it sure sounds like it.

Same here. At least the title track should have been in the setlist. Great melodies and guitar work from Janick and Dave. It would have sounded fantastic live, with Adrian's guitar added on the stage.

Indeed. Maybe Steve saw that this is Bruce's preferred use of his voice during this period and tried to fit in, which is something normal and nice.

But we have to say that all songs but 1 are written well and to their best use for the given idea and especially length.

Genuinely heartwarming to see Steve defend No Prayer. Maybe he remembers the tracklist from the heart afterall! The usual suspects (or whiners) Smith & Dickinson obvious reason why they don't play it at all. We need the uncompromisimg 'Arry from the late 70s, telling the boys flatly to suck it up and get on with The Assassin, or there's the door! Still not over they skipped any representation last year and this. Scandalous.
 
The album was inevitable. It's tired and lacks any of the imagination of the records that came before. But it's totally understandable given the journey they'd been on for the previous ten years.

I don't even hate the stripped back approach but it's all so weak and anaemic. It lacks killer melodies and good hooks but much could have been salvaged with a heavier production.

It's a shame it's been so neglected but there's just very little there that can stand alongside the other albums.

Having said all that, it's nice to see it get some love in here. Every album is someone's favourite.
