Night Prowler's Top 25 Iron Maiden Songs

I have two favorite songs from Iron Maiden as well: Prowler and Remember Tomorrow. From Piece Of Mind I have only one, Still Life.

#21 - Journeyman
Best acoustic guitars on any Maiden song (duh!). I wasn't a fan of this song until I saw it on Death On The Road DVD, and tbh it sounds much better in a live environment (like Fear Of The Dark). It's a very relaxing song with fantastic performance by Bruce. Chorus is absolutely amazing - best on the album for sure. I think that it would've fit nicely in TFF tour setlist: Coming Home-Journeyman-Isle Of Avalon would be a nice combination :D

It would be around #70 for me, very good song but not up there with Maidens best IMO.

Nah, don't like it much. I'm just not a fan of jangy jangy guitar parts. It's not why I listen to Maiden. And, as a guitarist, I hate the intrument being reduced to purely an instrument of accompaniment. Clearly it can be used as such. But, nah, not a fan of this sound generally i.e. of the jangy jangy guitar during most of the song. The song, despite this, has a nice melody though. And, different from other Maiden.

No, you can have nice open picking, and arpeggio work. Or a sound like The Legacy. Now that is something different. What a song. Very interesting. None of this strummy strummy tambourine-sounding guitar work. Bah!

I won't have time to do this every day, so 2 more songs today!

#20 - Powerslave
My favorite song from Powerslave album. It has best riffs and solos on the album. Bruce sounds very cool on the studio version, but for some reason I don't really like how he sings it live. Seeing it live with all the pyrotechnics and masked Bruce was awesome, and it should be played live more often.

#19 - Infinite Dreams
Another underrated 80's classic. Opening solo is amazing, one of band's best. It changes a lot between fast and slow parts, and still manages to keep my attention. Best part of the song is, of course, Bruce's fantastic scream in the middle of the song, which is IMO better than the one on The Number Of The Beast. Lyrics and solos are fantastic, and I would really like to see the guitar harmony in the middle of the song played by three guitars. Wishful thinking, I know :S

Okay 19 and 20 really hit home with me.  Infinite Dreams is a masterpiece amongst masterpieces on Seventh Son.  How does anyone have the talent to write like that?  Amazing top 10 song easy for me.  And then there is Powerslave.  The heavy hitter with the soft theatrical center and emotional riveting exit.  #1 overall on a past list if I'm not mistaken..  Great choices.

Wait, isn't it the only acoustic sound on any Maiden song?

We can say that Journeyman is their most acoustic song (with the least electronic guitars) but there are acoustic guitars on various other songs. E.g. on Prodigal Son. Also on a couple of songs on the albums Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Fear of the Dark and The X-Factor.

19 and 20 would be higher in my book (much higher).

#18 - Coming Home
My second favorite song from The Final Frontier. First time I heard this song, fantastic lyrics were the first thing that caught my attention. Of course, I love everything about this song, but the chorus is probably my favorite part of the song. I'd prefer if they released this as the single instead of El Dorado. It has a nice potential for a great music video, with footage of Flight 666 airplane, Bruce in the cockpit etc. I'd really like to see this one stick around for later tours so that I can see it live :D

#17 - Alexander The Great
Of course, the never-played legendary song is on my list :D The best part of the song for me starts at 1:39 and finishes at 1:55. They could just play that part of the song (if they hate the lyrics) and I'd still be happy :) Lyrics aren't really perfect, and Bruce isn't really understandable, but vocal lines are still good. All members give their best on this one, but instrumentally, solos are the best part of the song. Intro could've been shorter, but it's not a big deal...

#16 - The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
Another fantastic song from my favorite Maiden album. This is one of Nicko's best performances ever, and probably the fastest. It's one of rare Maiden's songs that I would label as "power metal". Again, it would be awesome to hear it live with 3 guitars, but I don't think that Nicko can now keep this fast pace throughout the whole song. Riffs and melodies are excellent throught the whole song, which is, of course, standard on Somewhere In Time.

#15 - Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
My favorite song from AMOL&D. Another nice performance by Nicko. Bruce still hits the high notes perfectly ("Out of the universe a strange love is born / Unholy union - Trinity reformed"). Chorus is absolutely astounding, and proves that repetition can be good! Best part of the song starts at 4:03 - nice change of pace :edmetal: I kinda understand why they dropped it from 2010 set, 'cause it wouldn't really work when played live on big festivals - same goes for Starblind.

Ive only mentioned one of them already, the other three made my top 50 but i think at least one is right up in a very similar place as you.  ;)
Good picks ill get back on my increasingly less blasphemous topic in the morning

None of those make my top 50, but they would all be very close after, so good choices :)
