Nicko McBrain retires

Also, it's kinda clear at what point he hired a personal trainer. That should've been straight after Adrian's fallout show, where CSIT was pumped to stratospheric speeds by Nicko due to his fills.

I think that is where the words with him happened and Nicko made some changes (hired a personal trainer, started using IEMS, etc...), which made performances much better.
CSIT is What/where date?

It’s all semantics but Nicko says “when I left the band…” at the end of the interview, contrary to what Bruce said on stage. He also spent quite a bit of time talking about what he’s going to be up to in the future and none of it involves Maiden. Just interesting stuff.

Also if we take his timeline at face value, it seems like at the time of the Classic Rock interview he genuinely believed he would be joining Maiden on Run For Your Lives. Still kinda mind boggling to me.

Only then, really? The decision was made so late? I didn't believe it. But then it's also a factor why Maiden didn't get a big name on board: no time to get everything ready before the next tour!

I wouldn't put too much into Nicko not mentioning Maiden in his future plans. Yeah, there might be nothing. But he also might not be allowed to spill the beans yet. We'll see about that.
Agreed. He also said he needs to practice so he doesn't loose his feel (to say), which he can do by playing live with his solo band every month, so...
Yes. If theres something he obv would not tell it on this interview.
Which would atypical for him. :p
Looking at the comments under the video, the interviewer apparently talked to him about Maiden-related topics, but isn't allowed to share anything.
Hmm, interesting and that's good, right. The interviewer mentioned that they talked about Simon and whether Nicko would/plans to play on the next possible Maiden album - and the hits is a ''smile''.
I was hoping he would fly in for the London date. Seems fitting that we would play a song or two during their biggest London show ever.
That's a possibility, for sure. Depends on Nicko, I assume.

Maybe he had in mind it was his decision, who knows. And maybe he doesn't know the plans for the next album yet, and neither does the band, right. The band were okay with him ''leaving'' (to quote him), but why isn't the interviewer allowed to share the rest of the interview with the curious questions...?

I guess his final decision was taken sometime then, he said on the NA tour. I think they wanted to continue with him, they said they would drop some songs for him, but he didn't improve as much, sadly. Also, getting a personal trainer mid-tour! He also mentioned about the mentality.
It was a well thought decision (since the end of the 2023 tour), announced late.
I wouldn’t be surprised if someone within the Maiden hierarchy sat down (Steve/Rod) and had a word with him when it became clear that he wasn’t going to get better as the tour progressed, but allowed him to make his own decision about his future.
Probably Steve (thought, wanted to say), but Nicko knew it himself and kept his word from 10 years ago.
Also as I predicted, things drumming-wise didn't get better in 2024. They actually got worse, so he decided to pull the plug.
I get you, worse in terms of the physical playing for him, but he was ''better'' in 2024.

I believe it, Nicko is a big part of the family. The CR interview was done in early November (right), RFYT was announced mid-September, so they tried to help him (especially Adrian) and give him more time, even though he had almost 1 year off. It's not about a big name, they had/ve enough time for everything.

An insider or the inaccurate Wikipedia nonsense?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

“…McBrain retired from touring in 2024, although he remains a member of the band for studio projects…”

Well... the question is - is there any plan for future studio projects? Because that means nothing if they don't plan to record album.

Based on what Bruce said on stage.

If they continue after the new tour (they said they have no plans to retire for now), so ofc, why not. Also, the aforementioned interviewer not allowed to share the Maiden questions.? Here's what Steve and Bruce said in the new interview:

Steve: ''It's a fantastic back catalogue that we've got, but you don't just rely on that. We've done tours before where we've only played the old stuff, but we've always continued to make new albums. And even now, I'm still writing all the time. I've got so many ideas, it's ridiculous, insane.''
Bruce: ''We're booked up through 2025, 2026... so let's wait and see how we all feel about it.''

Steve's thought of semi-retiring but still releasing albums is up in the air, or.

Not really. Bruce did not say there will be studio projects with Nicko. He said Nicko is still a member of the band which could have a lot of different meanings...
Ok, but what is the main thing a band member usually do? Playing. Other stuff like documentaries, FC, and his other personal projects are management. Nicko mentioned a variety of projects working with Rod - and - he will also be working on his side projects. In the press release, Rod also said that he's sure they can find few special ones (aka projects) around Maiden and FC.
