Iron Maiden, who won band of the year, revealed they had already started writing songs for their 15th studio album.
"We're going to Paris for three weeks to work on some new stuff," guitarist Janick Gers told the BBC.
"The most important thing for a band is to create new music, otherwise you're not valid - you become a parody."

That is a great piece of news. :)

I would carefully guess we'd hold the new album in our hands in March or April, then.
 
Great news but not the most unexpected. It's often been like this:

A-Writing
B-Christmas
C-Into the studio

(and this time it was said a couple of times in earlier interviews as well:

e.g. Maidenfans news-update -> 7 October:
"We'll spend a period writing, we'll take Christmas off and then we'll get into recording. We'll finish the album in time for it to be out next year and I'm just getting my head round what we want to do touring-wise.)

However, if they'd do a great deal of recording before X-mas, that would mean things go faster than expected.

You mean an album released in Autumn?

Why should they need a whole year to make a new album?
 
Just guessed. Both AMOLAD & DOD were ready before summer, yet they've been released in Autumn.
I'm definitely in favour of a spring /early summer release though -let's hope you guess right, and I wrong.

Autumn/Winter 2009 -> Autumn 2010

is a way longer period than

Summer 2003 -> Autumn 2003
 
They would certainly not release an album in summer and they won't be ready before summer (perhaps the music but the artwork, the promo etc require some weeks)  so I think that a september release is pretty likely.

I would bet they would favour a May/June release, seeing as how Bruce and Rod have hinted of summer touring plans.  Therefore, this would mean the album will be released before then.
 
AWESOME! MY kids are maiden fans, 4 and 7 years old, they will be almost as happy as I am. I have been trying to find flight 666 on dvd, anyone know if its out yet?
 
Maybe a tour this summer like "Give me Ed'" in 2003 just a few months before the release of DOD.
At this time, i remember they also played a song from the unreleased DOD album "Wildest Dream".

My opinion for this summer: A kind of "Best-of" Tour with one song "unreleased" of the next album, before a new tour, a few months later, dedicated to the new album, and maybe like AMOLAD tour, with all songs from the new album...

It's been out for months. Since May, IIRC.

Also on BluRay, and I think they released a CD version. And about half the tracklist on Rock Band.

Actually, Im hoping someone gets it for me for christmas.  :P Failing that, I will buy it. My 3rd tattoo is unfinished, but its of Eddie when hes chained to the floor in a straightjacket. Still needs a lot done on it though.  B)

Speaking of artwork, is there any chance it will be by Derek?
 
Why not? He did the Flight 666 cover and a few event t-shirt designs. I'd say it's very likely.
 
I kinda feel like they throw him a bone occasionally...but will they give him the album cover?  If they do, it's gonna be a huge fight again.  The two of them seem perpetually incapable of getting along.
 
I don't really get it. Who is fighting?

I thought Riggs just sent them a couple of suggestions and they'd pick one if they liked it.
