New Bruce Interview

He drinks loads of coffee. He hates cold water and doesn’t drink it. He’s had an attack of gout. He sang Nessun Dorma in his shower. He’s also set to sing the U.S. national anthem on some date. (I didn’t finish watching the whole interview.)

He’s also pretty conscious about his health—he drinks healthy smoothies and takes supplements (lion’s mane, maca etc.)

In all seriousness, I completely understand his dislike of air conditioning and smoking at concerts. Both interfere with his ability to sing, and that must be genuinely frustrating for him.
 
In such a long interview, it's more likely that you might accidentally let something slip that could give clues about plans, e.g., a new Maiden album.
Unfortunately, I don't have much time at the moment.
Does he say anything about science? I'm still curious about the answers given in his comics on these topics, but to be honest, I don't feel like reading them.
 
My notes: I watched all but the final 10 minutes yesterday. First 40 minutes are essentially the cancer thing and the two of them getting into the interview comfort zone. Talk about how he's an enemy of all things sugar in his diet, and how he hates drinking cold water (which is also bad for the singing voice)

Around 45 minutes, they start to talk about his warm-up routines.
48 mins in, Bruce sings a bit of Trumpet of Jericho but in chest range

Says he usually does Trumpets of Jericho for his warm-ups because it covers so much of his singing style, vowels, range shifts etc. They talk quite a bit in the interview about vocal technique, resonance placement and how Bruce used to do a lot of front teeth placement etcetera and piercing head-voice whereas he nowadays prefers to put some "body" into his singing, as he now has more of a low end. He talked about how Tony Platt helped him push his range and find his singing style in the early pre-Maiden years, but that he had to find proper technique to sing high-ranged stuff live.

He also references that they (Maiden) try to get youtube to take down all their live vids (he tells her to go and find a Rime video; they talk about body stance while singing and he talks about how you need that sound stance to do all that head-voice stuff).

Looks like Bruce has been paying attention to the tour reception. He talked about Aces High and how he read that people accurately pointed out he was struggling in the early tour (more than he does now), and he's like, yep, always struggled with it, still am.

He is going into the studio with his solo band in January to record the new album.

He cannot cope with in-ears. He hates them. He needs to feel the voice in his body and head, so he uses ear-plugs to isolate himself, and gets the top end from the wedges.

He is going to do the U.S. national anthem soon at a sports game.

He talks a bit about how he has worked with a physio-therapist following his hip replacements and how he has learned tons of stuff about how to take care of his body.

Says that Fear of the Dark is a good song to sing towards the end of the set, as you get to use cool props and it isn't too hard on his voice as you get tired towards the end of the set.

He also said Ozzy and Sabbath were one of his main inspiration alongside Ian and Purple.

He wanted to be drummer and in his first band he played bongos. Now we know why he is playing bonogs on solo tour.

He is behind his Instagram account. Maybe alongside his wife, but he said he is following what is going on on Instagram.

He demostrate crazy memory by naming all dates and cities for US tour :D
 
I don't think he let anything slip about future plans. The only thing he said is that he'll record his next studio album in January 2026 or so. We already knew that though. He didn't really talk about Maiden. The only thing he said is that in the reunion era he feels better in the band.
Oh he said that he struggles with Aces High, too.

The fanclub forum definitely gets monitored a bit by management. Not sure if the band check it themselves.
 
In the age of social media, a single negative comment or false rumor can go viral and cause significant damage. It's a key part of the management's job to monitor social media.

Ironically in a video where Steven managed to create a negative online response in his fan pages by being interviewed by a channel run by a right wing reactionary gobshite who platforms the likes of David Icke. Unfortunately, there's one particular person in his management that is deep into this bollocks and I'm fairly certain keeps putting him up for these sort of interviews.

That's unfortunate, I didn't know that. I hope certain people still get the point.
 
I wrote that in Bruce Dickinson main thread but this was one of the best interviews in a long time. Mainly because Bruce was so involved, as he said at the end 'It was nice to talk to someone who knows what he's talking about' - They exceeded the interview time by almost an hour because they had such a flow.. He was quite happy about learning what cats can do to the voice since he wanted to adopt some in near future. Also - off topic - she will try to get Rob Halford for interview as well.
 
I really can't watch this. The webcam interview format is totally annoying, pic and talk not syncron and everything. The pandemic is over.

So is the idea that two people need to be in the same room to have a meaningful conversation. Or so I thought… Travelling long distances for a 2 hour interview is a waste of time and carbon.

In all seriousness, this is a great interview. He clearly liked talking to Elizabeth and got into the weeds about a number of topics. It was much better than him going over the usual talking points.

I won’t comment on his Aces High observations… I will be scolded.

This was basically confirmed when Nicko announced his stroke and he said he'd seen all the comments online criticising his performances.
