New album: The Final Frontier!

Hum... i doubt it.

Maybe their last album, but not the last tour. They still have at least one more to go, which is not an unknown fact :  FEAR OF THE VIRTUAL DYING WORLD !  :D

That's exactly what I said, Rotam. Read my post more carefully. :P

Edit: maybe I should read my own post more carefully ... I only said that this being the last tour was "hopefully wrong". But I said that only because I'm not silly enough to predict the future. Of course we expect more tours, but I'm not crazy enough to guarantee it.

I'd expect a final history tour before they pack it in something like 1 song from each album - maybe 2 from NotB and IM or something.

This tour is gonna have exactly what you purpose - one song (at least) from each album -, but I hope it's not their last, for sure.

I very much doubt that. I'd be very surprised by more than one Blaze song, and only slightly less surprised by anything off NPFTD.

Even Bring your Daughter... ...to the Slaughter?

Screw Bring Your Daughter.... Mother Russia is much more appropriate. I quite like NPFTD, better album than expected.

Clearly I've been out of the loop for far too long. The Final Frontier as the album title? Not bad, although it does sound rather final (pardon the pun). I respect Maiden for many things and one of them is their decision not to be a "cabaret act" as someone somewhere put it. They should end it while the going is good, not dwindle into insignificance. That being said, I hope another live album comes out after they tour the new album.
Also, what the hell Eddie is that? It looks like Xombie from the comic xombified, not like the real deal. I guess I hope they fix it for the actual cover.

That's the one that would surprise me least, since it's the most recently played song from that album. However, it was always a bigger hit in Europe than the US and Maiden knows that.

Consider: at some shows on GMETID in 2003, Maiden had to cut a few songs because of local noise laws requiring concerts to end by a certain time. (The show I saw was one such concert.) And BYDTTS was one of the three songs they dropped, when they had to drop some. (The other two were HCW and BNW - I hope everyone is up to speed on their acronyms!)

Since that tour, they've done 2 more studio albums - and they haven't played more than Wildest Dreams in most parts of the US. I'd expect some DOD or AMOLAD songs instead of BYD.

So I don't see any NPFTD songs as being likely. Possible, but it would be a surprise to me.

Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris heard some songs and was knoocked out - he said "this is the kind of music that made me want to play in the first place. I'd go out and buy it now....."

Makes me think the album will be similar to AMoLaD - fairly proggy. Chances are it won't be as heavy though.

Steve made these comments about another Shirley produced album. In fact, Shirley "uses" Steve to promote it. ;)

One of my big hopes for this album, is for them to take 100% advantage of having three guitarists.  I'm talking like triple intertwining melodies going on with Nicko's rocket-right foot and Bruce's magic howling.  I like that they have 3 guitarists, but they haven't fully utilitized it yet.

I could swear I read somewhere the one of the band members said this album was even more progressive than AMOLAD. I just can't remember where I read it. If anyone remembers anything like that and has a source, please post it.
