I writing a short review from the gig - a larger one will follow on the mainsite!

Well, I'm not going to post the setlist again, because most of you already know it.
Just one song has been added. But as I know this has been posted already.

Overall it was a wonderful evening in the Olympiahalle in Munich.

The boys were in fantastic shape and the gig was fantasitc. [!--emo&:bow:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/bowdown.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'bowdown.gif\' /][!--endemo--]
Bruce's voice is over the top and you can feel the energy and the power, and of also the fun they have, while playing!

"Thank you Irons, for beeing still here"-That evening was unbelieveable!!!!!

But the most fantastic thing was: I've met Steve Harris and Janick Gers!
I was waiting in front of the hotel for 2,5 hours ('kin cold) but it was worth it.
Steve and Janick signed my LAD Flag..... [!--emo&:wub:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wub.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'wub.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Believe me I was THAT surprised, I still can't believe it!!!

I said just to him: "Thank you for beeing here!" (I know, silly, eh [!--emo&:blink:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/blink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'blink.gif\' /][!--endemo--] ) Anyway, he answered: "Oh, no, thank YOU for beeing here" [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]
After that I wished him a good concert - well, it was a 'kin great concert!

Iron Maiden, Gamma Ray - Stuttgart, Schleyerhalle, 25.10.2003
Schon seid Wochen ist die „Dance Of Death“ Tour von Iron Maiden ausverkauft. Auch wenn das gleichnamige aktuelle Studioalbum der Jungfrauen in der Fangemeine unterschiedliche Meinungen hervorgerufen hat, hat dies den Ticketverkaufszahlen also keinerlei Abbruch beschert. Besonders freute ich mich auf Gamma Ray, die vor knapp 3 Wochen kurzfristig als Vorband bestätigt wurden.
Und Kai Hansen mit seiner Band war heiss – das spürte man. Auch für GAMMA RAY ist es noch etwas besonderes, in einer Halle mit über 10.000 Besuchern zu spielen. Los ging es mit „Gardens Of A Sinner“. Die Reaktionen waren noch sehr dürftig aber es ist nun mal sehr schwer, als Vorband von Iron Maiden zu bestehen. In den knapp 40 Minuten denen den Hamburgern blieb schafften sie es dennoch, immer wieder die Massen zum klatschen zu animieren. Bei „Heavy Metal Universe“ gab es sogar ein Mitsingspiel was Hansen, Richter und Co fast von der Bühne bliesen als bestimmt alle 10.000 Leute den Refrain schrieen. Genau den richtigen Abschluss gab es mit dem alten Helloween Klassiker „I Want Out“. Super Konzert – leider viel viel zu kurz. Gamma Ray sind und bleiben ein unglaublich geniale Live Band!

Der Umbau der Bühne dauerte ne ganze Weile bis um 21.20 endlich IRON MAIDEN unter einer bombastischen Lichtshow legten Bruce, Janick, Dave, Steve, Adrian und Nicko los mit “Wildest Dreams” und „Wrathchild“. Die Dekoration bestand aus zwei eckigen Türmen links und rechts am hinteren Rand der Bühne. Vor den Türmen bzw. in den Türmen integriert standen zwei ca. 6-8 Meter große „Dance Of Death“ Sensemann Statuen. Zwischen diesen Türmen hingen abwechselnd in altbekannter Manier auf überdimensional großen Stoffbannern Iron Maiden Album Coverartworks oder die Bilder zu manchen Songs („The Trooper“). Im Vordergrund der Bühne waren kleinere Schlosselemente aufgebaut. Auch der Rest der Bühnenshow konnte sich sehen lassen: so hatte Bruce Dickinson bei „Dance Of Death“ eine Ballmaske vor dem Gesicht und trug einen Umhang. Zu „Paschendale“ war Bruce passend in einer alten Soldatenuniform mit Schutzhelm verkleidet. Gleichzeitig rundeten Stacheldraht Barrieren versehen mit Blitzlicht Gewitter das Bühnenbild ab. Die Lichtshow generell war wieder mal eine Klasse für sich: höhenverstellbare Traversen, die sich auch in Blickrichtung der Fans schwenken ließen. Dazu auf die Songs abgestimmte Farbkombinationen wie bei „Brave New World“ und komplett blauem Licht. IM spielten abgesehen von „Lord Of The Flies“ keine „Besonderheiten“ – Standart Klassiker wie „Fear Of The Dark“ und „Hallowed Be Thy Name“ sind schön und gut, nur frage ich mich, ob ich von einer Band mit diesem Kultstatus nicht mehr erwarten darf. Und wenn die Herren Rock Stars nach bereits 1 Stunde und 20 Minuten die Bühne für fast 5 Minuten verlassen um zurück zu kommen und dann mit weiteren 3 Songs das Konzert zu beenden, dann empfinde ich als zahlender Gast (50 Euro sind nun mal 100 DM !) das als sehr dreist. Als dann nach 1 Stunde und 40 Minuten das Licht anging, erschallte ein gellendes unheimlich lautes Pfeifkonzert und die Leute buhten kurzzeitig die Band aus. Auf dem Weg nach draußen sah man überall schimpfende und enttäuschte Fans. Zufrieden nur die, die Maiden zum ersten mal sahen. Abgesehen von der wirklich perfekten und fesselnden Bühnenshow der Band muss ich leider sagen, dass nicht nur für mich eine weitere Legende auf den Zug „Geld verdienen steht an erster Stelle“ aufgesprungen ist. Mein insgesamt 7 IM Konzert war das erste welches nicht 2 Stunden andauerte. T-Shirts kosteten dazu noch 30 Euro und das Longsleeve gar 40 Euro. Vielen Dank! Ich unterstütze zukünftig nur noch die Bands, die es verdienen – z.B. Gamma Ray !!! Über Meinungen anderer Fans freue ich mich sehr in unserem Forum!

For me:

I was satisfied with the songs they played, why should every concert take 2+ hours?
We don't have to forget, they were on tour this year.
How many bands do we know who play 2 Tours in one year?

I saw them the 5th time and it was fantastic.
Ticket prices was high as usual, but I think this belongs to the venue they play!
How can it be:
Pay 20 € for a ticket in Praque
Pay 52 € for a ticket in Munich
(Same supporters Gamma-Ray)

Or does it belong to the management or to the band?!?!?

And the prices for merchandise are always high. I haven't seen a cheap shirt at any concert... [!--emo&:angry:--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/mad.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'mad.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

BTW: I was at Roskilde this summer and tried to get a Maiden-shirt there - no chance, I couldn't find any.....

It has to do with the fact that people in Prague couldn´t affort 50+ euro ticket.

I would be happy to see them, even if they play less than 2 hours. As you said, it their 2nd tour this year.

That IS the reason, whatever you might think of it. People in Prague earn maybe about 500, they won´t spend 50 euro on a ticket. It´s the same eveywhere, Easteurope pays about 20-25 euro for a ticket, I know it from Croatia, Poland and Slowenia.....
