Mike Portnoy announced his new band is called Adrenaline Mob and features Russell Allen from Symphony X on vocals, Mike Orlando from Sonic Stomp and Rich Ward of Fozzy on guitar, and bass player Paul DiLeo.

...which is kind of modern-sounding, almost like ROB ZOMBIE meets BLACK LABEL SOCIETY meets DISTURBED, [but] with [Ronnie James] Dio singing. It's all this kind of craziness. So it's definitely different and it's cool...

...This band is not in the vein of SYMPHONY X or DREAM THEATER. It's more along the lines of, say, ROB ZOMBIE, GODSMACK, DISTURBED, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, SHINEDOWN… with Russell's absolute pipes from hell and Mike just outright killing it on the kit. The guitar is really rocking and has some pretty insane moments, but it's a song-oriented band and that's the most important aspect before anything...

Those influences (except Dio and BLS) don't look promising to me :S Still, I would rather have this than a 1000th Portnoy prog project.

Not interested then. Sorry. I only cared in the first place because MP was in it, but if he isn't doing prog then I'm not really interested.

I think that it's just a passing thing until Portnoy comes back to Dream Theater. He wants to show that he can be successful without Dream Theater.

I don't think he is coming back though. At least until they're a 30 year old band and do a reunion tour or something.

From Dream Theater he wanted to take a break, not from music.

I'll check them out when they realease some music.  It is good he is not trying to make  a DT clone-band

I don't want a DT clone, but I want to see him do Prog too.

All of his projects and bands are prog, except this one, A7X and some demo bands he was in when he was really young. It's good that he will do something new.

I guess so. I must admit, even if he did do a prog album I probably wouldn't pay attention as I don't listen to any of his other projects.

Meh... I'd rather he didn't "steal" Russell's time from Symphony X to be in this project, it doesn't sound very good so far. I will wait and see though.

MP and Allen working on a more straight-to-the-point album sounds interesting enough for me.I''ll check their album for sure.  :D

You mean, 5 more years? They've been together 25 years already.

Portnoy will never go back to DT. He tried, they showed him the door. Not gonna happen.

Oh that's right, maybe not. I'm not going to say he will never go back, and if he does, it would probably be for a one off show or even just a song. But as a permanant member, I don't think he will rejoin.
