Metallica mention Maiden in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame speech

Not the leader of the band? They moved to the Bay Area b/c Cliff wanted it that way. I agree with you that James (and Lars) are the core musically especially when it comes to writing, but Cliff provided something intangible that made Metallica great. So maybe leader is not the best descriptor, but it is clear that they all looked up to Cliff.

That's what I was talking about. They are all responsible why Metallica IS Metallica.

Yet another year, another class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, and still no Maiden. At this point it's almost cooler that they're not in. Although what good is a collection of rock and/or roll memorabilia without Eddie?

At least Tom Waits got in this year, so there is some taste in the selection committee.

No.

Metallica changed. That's all.

You may not have liked the change, but that's all it was.

^ this.

Same for AC/DC, I like Brian Johnson better than Bon Scott, and I'm really sick of hearing how Bon was AC/DC.

Not yet. He's only nominated. But he's a shoo-in.

The Hall has to let him in, between the publicity over his nomination, and the Hall wants cred since everyone has figured out they're full of shit.

Ooh, but look who else was nominated instead of Maiden? Bon Fucking Jovi.

If you ignore a comparison with Maiden (i.e. "Maiden won't get in but BON JOVI will????"), I can't think of one good reason why Bon Jovi shouldn't be in the HOF.  It's not called the Hall of Being Influential.

The main problem: Being in the Hall of Fame(any kind) does not mean being your taste.

This is Maiden forum ^ Maiden aren't in Hall of Fame => Hall of Fame isn't good
So why aren't Iron Maiden in the hall of fame ?? Care to answer that ?? They've sold a ton of albums , they are still relevant and have n.1 albums everywhere but the U.S, they make huge tours (they can have over 50.000 people from Sweden to Brazil) , they are one of the most influantial bands ever (just count the sub-genres or other bands that have been influenced by Maiden from European/American power metal to new wave of swedish death metal ) .

As i've written again and again (and some people get offended by that ), Maiden were always outcasts for the U.S public/media and that's why you won't see them in things like this "hall of fame" anytime soon.

Seriously posting how "cool" it is for Metallica to...mention Iron Maiden is insulting to Iron Maiden first and foremost.

Iron Maiden are more famous (God what a silly word really) everywhere but the U.S)

Originally quoted by Forostar..." Mob Rules always remembered me of Iron Maiden. That solo part is actually so great because of the galloping bass beneath it."

I've always wanted Maiden to do a b-side of 'Falling Off The Edge of The World'.   PERFECT song for them to cover. Listen to it and you will agree. That song, along with "I" off of  Dehumanizer are my favorite Sabbath songs ever.  Sabbath with Ronnie was THE BEST Sabbath  IMHO
