Merchandise Sold At Maiden Shows

Seeing that it's been over 20 years since I've seen them live and now I'll be seeing them in Houston, I was just wondering what kind of merchandise can you find at the venue? I know they will have event t-shirts, but I'm especially interested in signed items like 8x10's, CDs, or drum heads... Also, do they still offer tourbooks as well??? And, lastly, are prices resasonable? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

No signed items for sale. I think they do have the tourbooks. Prices are anything but reasonable (I think it was around 30 EUR per t-shirt in Europe, which would translate to around 40 USD).

Thanks for responding! I figured it would be expensive! Been wishing they'd do a meet and greet package, but signed items would have been good too! Oh well!

Tourbooks are very much a rip-off. I've never bought one myself, but seen several, and the last decent one was the 2003 Dance of Death one. Other than that, merchandise is pretty much what you'd expect and what you get from the Maiden online shop.

I agree with tourbooks being a ripoff, but I am a sucker for them. My logic has always been that if I want a souvenir from a show, I'd rather spend 20 bucks or so on a book rather then 40 bucks on a shirt that I will probably one day be cutting my grass or washing my car in! Lol! As a collector, it seems that tourbooks usually go up in value for whatever reason. The bands know it, that's why they can fetch 20 bucks for 8 pages of photos or so! :)

Ok. So now that the tour has started, I'd like to know what they're selling at the shows other than tshirts. I'm looking for autographed items, tourbooks, collectibles... Thanks!

I've been looking for authentic autographs for years with no luck. There's always stuff online but I can't confirm the authenticity. I really wish they would do meet and greet packages.

Yeah... I've met KISS twice with their meet and greets. I had maiden walk right in front of me back in '88 in new orleans behind the arena as they were walking from their tour bus... I tried to get signatures but a cop grabbed me! I'm seeing maiden in Houston and hoping we run into them at a hotel or something... Just curious if they were selling autographed stuff at the show. Journey has been selling their new cd autographed for around 30 bucks at their show! Hoping maiden does the same!

I went to the Atlanta show and there was no autographed merch. They had flags, shirts, key chains, and posters but no autographs. The only way I know for sure to get an autograph at a show is to catch one of the drum heads Nicko throws into the audience. According to the documentary that came with En Vivo!, Nicko autographs those. As far as meeting them backstage, I don't know about that. I think it's pretty hard to get back stage these days.

If you have enough time and money to take a trip to Florida you might catch Nicko at his Rib place. Some guy at the Atlanta show met him there and had him sign a custom painted motorcycle You could also find their hotel but I wouldn't want to bother them there. They deserve a break and the hotel seems like a place they should be able to walk around without worrying about fans bothering them. Other than that, I don't know how to get an autograph. Wish I did.

They don't sell autographed merchandise at shows. Your best bet is hanging out with the people from the official fan club before and after gigs - they usually know where the band is staying and what bars they head to. If you stalk them outside their hotels before the shows, they usually take some time to sign your stuff and have photos taken, and if relaxed enough, even chat with you for a few moments. That's how I 'met' Steve in Paris. And I've been told many stories from people who met them at bars after the gigs where they took time to socialise with their fans.

I'd much prefer a chat, to an autograph. Look at Steve (in whatever documentary it was; perhaps Flight 666) on the plane just signing, signing, signing, a big pile of... crap. Why would you want one of these? Getting an author to sign a book (while nearly the same) is different. They're authors; their craft is writing; they "make" books --a signature in a book makes more sense. But a signed programme or photo is just signed fodder. A signed record, I suppose. I have SSaoSS 12 inch signed by the band, minus Brucie for some reason. But I don't see the attraction in spending a massive amount of time trying to acquire signatures; they can't be rare. Better, as Perun got to do, treasure meeting them; particularly if you got to have a chat. That doesn't mean harrassing them at hotels though. Join the fan club, etc.

I think something signed should be something signed in person, not one of a bulk lot done somewhere.

I've heard of people meeting many bands in bar's/hotel's after gig entirely by accident and as long as you're not a freaky "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG" type with them most bands will happily just sit and chat. I wonder what people talk to them about, like is it all music talk or do people ever try engage them in the current news etc :p

You are most likely right. Unfortunately, I suspect I would act just as you say, if I ever met them. :D
