Queen - In The Lap Of The Gods (Revisited), from the Sheer Heart Attack album (1974).

A good choice. Sheer Heart Attack has become my favourite Queen album lately.

My favourite song of the day, in case anybody cares, is either "The ConstruKction of Light" by King Crimson or "The Right Profile" by The Clash.

In the last weeks I played Dio & Rainbow and now it's difficult to get Man on the Silver Mountain out of my head.

This riff also.... tadatadaa dada tadatadaaaa daa etc. :)

Billy Joel - The Downeaster "Alexa"

Billy Joel has written some of the most moving music over his career, this is one of his best.

Lyrics:

Well I'm on the Downeaster "Alexa"
And I'm cruising through Block Island Sound
I have charted a course to the Vineyard
But tonight I am Nantucket bound

We took on diesel back in Montauk yesterday
And left this morning from the bell in Gardiner's Bay
Like all the locals here I've had to sell my home
Too proud to leave I worked my fingers to the bone

So I could own my Downeaster "Alexa"
And I go where the ocean is deep
There are giants out there in the canyons
And a good captain can't fall asleep

I've got bills to pay and children who need clothes
I know there's fish out there but where God only knows
They say these waters aren't what they used to be
But I've got people back on land who count on me

So if you see my Downeaster "Alexa"
And if you work with the rod and the reel
Tell my wife I am trawling Atlantis
And I still have my hands on the wheel

Now I drive my Downeaster "Alexa"
More and more miles from shore every year
Since they tell me I can't sell no stripers
And there's no luck in swordfishing here.

I was a bayman like my father was before
Can't make a living as a bayman anymore
There ain't much future for a man who works the sea
But there ain't no island left for islanders like me

Instead of lyrics I'd like to focus on the music (read: solo).

Dio - Death By Love

The solo (starting from 2.05) gets to a point (around 2.30-2.40) where it really gives me goosebumps!
I love that build-up. Craig Goldy rules!  :ok:

Anyone who says that solos don't contribute much I say: You're either deaf or  :nuts2:

:D

A few weeks back, while watching Stargate: Atlantis,  a song was played.  I commented that it was kinda good; my son said it was The Beautiful People by Manson.  So, since then it had kinda stuck in my head, until I finally downloaded it.  Not a bad tune, kinda fun to listen to...so, that has been what I've been listening to, that entire album.

Yeah... I don't know a lot of Marilyn Manson fans.  I hafta say, I kinda like it, though.  It fits a certain mood, his voice is kind of dark and works for me.

Hawkwind -Motorhead  :)  --->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6OuyJKnIyU

Just Huge. An outrageous b'side, one of the best ever in any music genre
which gave its name to a hell of a band ! Both sides, singing / performed by Lemmy

single's cover= Kings Of Speed, 1975, year of the cat

Manowar - Hail and Kill

I'll let the lyrics speak for themselves.

Brothers I am calling from the valley of the kings
With nothing to atone
A dark march lies ahead together we will ride
Like thunder from the sky
May your sword stay wet like a young girl in her prime
Hold your hammers high

Blood and death are waiting like a raven in the sky
I was born to die
Hear me while I live as I look into your eyes
None shall hear a lie
Power and dominion are taken by the will
By divine right hail and kill

Hail, hail, hail and kill
Hail and Kill
Hail, hail, hail and kill

My father was a wolf, I'm a kinsman of the slain
Sworn to rise again
I will bring salvation, punishment and pain
The hammer of hate is our faith
Power and dominion are taken by the will
By divine right hail and kill

Hail, hail, hail and kill
Hail and Kill
Hail, hail, hail and kill

Rip their flesh
Burn their hearts
Stab them in their eyes
Rape their women as they cry
Kill their servants
Burn their homes
Till there's no blood left to spill
Hail and Kill
Power and dominion are taken by the will
By divine right hail and kill

Hail, hail, hail and kill
Hail and Kill
Hail, hail, hail and kill

Hail, hail, hail and kill
Hail and Kill
Hail, hail, hail and kill

Loudness - Crazy Nights

This song was taken from Loudness' best-selling album Thunder in the East (1985)

You come to see the show
Well, we're going to rock and roll you
Come and get on your seat
We're going to make you feel alright
Hey, you want to go crazy tonight
Let me hear you shout and scream

You make me mad and wild
Well, we're going to rock and pile you
We're going to do our best
The best kicks you in the head, alright
Yeah, it's going to get crazy tonight
Let me hear you all go wild

Rock and roll crazy night
You are the heroes tonight
Rock and roll crazy night
You are the hero

You come to see the show
Well, we're going to rock and shock you
Come on get on your feet
The sound hits you in the face, alright
Oh, let's get so crazy tonight
Let me hear you rock and roll

Rock and roll crazy night
You are the heroes tonight
Rock and roll crazy night
You are the hero

^HA. My dad used to obsess over that song.

I simply cannot get "Burn" by Deep Purple out of my head. Dadaduhdaaa DadaduhDAAAdaaa Dadaduhdaaa Dadaduhduuuunnn.

And he talks to the river of lost love and dedication
And silent replies that swirl invitation
Flow dark and troubled to an oily sea
A grim intimation of what is to be

There's an unceasing wind that blows through this night
And there's dust in my eyes, that blinds my sight
And silence that speaks so much louder that words,
Of promises broken...

Perhaps technically not a single song, but: The Beatles' Abbey Road Medley.

I'm not a fan of Sun King, but the rest kicks ass. I've been learning "You Never Give Me Your Money" on piano lately.

Megadeth - Holy Wars ... The Punishment Due.

What a riff-o-rama.The riff starting at 45 seconds is beyond the realms of cool. Also the way they bring that riff back in the last part of the song is great, and the classical guitar bridge and the riff at 2:40 are also great.

Some people risk to employ me, others live to destroy me - either way they DIE!

^And Mustaine's solo is one of the best metal solos ever.

Mine right now is the third opening theme of FMA Brotherhood. J-rock is funny.
