Are slayer bigger than maiden over there ?

Depends on where you are. I'm in Melbourne (might be different around the country, not quite sure) and I know some people that like one and dislike the other (or like both). I'd say that Slayer and Maiden are about the same in terms of amount of listeners (bands like AC/DC, Metallica are definitely bigger though). Compared to stuff like modern pop however, metal is just a little blip on the radar.

i know there not rock but caught them live in the uk a  few years back was really impressed.

At Perth Soundwave, the Maiden shirts were slightly outnumbering the Slayer shirts, but they were both in vast majority.
