I do agree with the fact that Super Collider has some terrible songs on it. Songs such as Burn, Built For War, Don't Turn Your Back, and Forget to Remember are just all cringe worthy. The title track is actually good when you compare it to those atrocities. Kingmaker and Dance in the Rain are miles ahead of anything on Risk. Beginning of Sorrow is pretty good too.

My sentiments exactly, Sara. Risk may be tame, but at least it's not uninspired.

Exactly. And "Prince Of Darkness" is actually heavier than anything on "Super Collider". :P

@Collin: "Don't Turn Your Back" is actually a decent song, but certainly nothing great. The other 3 songs you mentioned are awful though. Even "Dance In The Rain", which is the best song on the album, feels like more should have been done with it to make it a really special song. And Chris Broderick's solo is way too short. Had it been the length of the "Tornado Of Souls" solo, it could have been truly awesome.

Yea, at the very least Risk gets an 'A' for effort. Super Collider just sounds like something that was thrown together just for the sake of having an album this year.

I hear Megadeth is already going back in the studio. I can only imagine the next album being even worse.

I didn't expect that. Megadeth don't even need to release albums anymore. Dave just tour them as a cabaret act. Some classics were dropped from the setlist this year though.

Megadeth are just trying to feed off of the energy of being described as the band that hasn't sold out unlike Metallica. Once their new album is thrash/heavy metal, the fans are pleased. It's fucking stupid but it is what it is.

I'd rather they put out good albums than try to write Thrash albums for the sake of writing Thrash albums (like Metallica did with 'Death Magnetic'). I like bits and pieces of their recent albums. There has been enough good stuff on the last few albums to keep me happy although they have been sloppy, which is what I would expect from a band who has been around for thirty years, keeps changing the line-up and keeps churning out albums.

Not having enough contributors doesn't do them any favors either. Songwriting has always been on Mustaine's shoulders but guys like Friedman, Menza, Poland, Samuelson, Colaiuta have all managed to put in some twists and flavors. As skilled as Chris Broderick is, I find the creativity on his solos lacking. And Shawn Drover is a terrible drummer.
