Maiden Tour 2014 (SPOILER TAGS REQUIRED WITHIN)

I got the impression Maiden had their full quota of festival dates for the tour now and would announce arena dates next.

I'm betting they also hit Norway, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Ireland and maybe Greece, though things are a bit dodgy there with the financial crisis.

(This is my first post here, sorry if I skipped any "introduction thread" or something but hey!)

I am betting they'll hit Portugal with Rock in Rio Lisbon in late May, the 23rd (and not the 30th, despite having no announcements yet, they'll play Netherlands the 31st and Italy June 1st, don't think they'll do 3 dates in a row). Seeing that Metallica headlined last year and they never headline 2 editions in a row (although Medina is quite fond of them -i wonder why-, they did headline in '04, '08 aswell), Maiden just played Brazil's and I'm guessing it would make sense, like a 2 year contract with them. Also betting Avenged Sevenfold is in the bill and possibly Slayer/Ghost. Any portuguese fellows here? Or anyone thinking about attending the festival for that matter?

What leads you to that conclusion? I wouldn't be surprised if Maiden were on a couple of the other Sonisphere bills as well.

Only that they're already committed to something every weekend (I think?) within the time frame. We know the tour starts late May and ends at Knebworth. They could fit in two festivals in a weekend I suppose, but they generally need one or two days to travel between venues, and I doubt festivals are all that close together. It would just make more sense, in my mind, to slot in arena shows midweek now.

And there's the fact the flow of announcements has stopped. ;)

Does anyone else think that the UK has been sort of neglected by the Maiden England tour?

1.Download Festival
2.Two shows at the O2
3. Sonisphere Festival.

It would've been nice to have some other shows at other places in the UK, like Birmingham, Manchester, or Glasgow.
Because I know that the shows that have been and will have been played for this tour are sort of exclusive. For one, festivals
aren't cheap so that cuts a large amount of people who want to go and see the show. And playing only two shows in London also
marginalizes the amount of people going to the show because a trip to London just for a concert puts a lot of people off mainly due to the cost.
(Although I made an exception to go and see Roger Waters perform The Wall at Wembley Stadium)

Anyway, I'm gonna try my best to go to Sonisphere at Knebworth this year and see the final show of the tour.
That's my two cents.
:)

This did get discussed somewhere at some time, probably in the last tour thread. A lot of UK fans would have preferred more arena shows, but that tends to happen in new album tours rather than the history tours. So here's to 2015/2016. And Sonisphere, of course. :)

To a certain extent I agree @THESEVENTHMARINER . It would have been nice if one of the shows in August had been further north in Manchester or Glasgow to enable a better geographic spread. Fortunately I was able to go to one of the London shows as I was living in Birmingham at the time and it was a Saturday. A midweek show would have been more difficult but at least having the shows at the weekend allowed people from further afield to travel to London.
