Maiden Tour 2014 (SPOILER TAGS REQUIRED WITHIN)

Summer 2010: was stated by Bruce to cover "the whole history of the band" + festivals in summer = big surprise: 2/3 post reunion era material.
Does someone have a link to whatever the press release was for the summer 2010 tour? I'd like to know what was said in regards to the theme behind that tour as people on the Sonisphere forums have been driving me insane by still winging that they didn't lay enough "well known songs". :censored:

I don't see how you can call Maiden and Priest posers, especially when they've been doing this 30+ years.

I don't call Maiden posers : I think that this particular gimmick is a bit ridiculous, and is a cliché. As for Priest, during their career, they have litteraly accumulated all the worst Metal clichés : a motorbike onstage, leather caps, manly poses, and even pretending to do a cunilingus to a Flying V guitar . So yes, I would define them as posers of the worst kind.

Priest have invented all those clichés.

Yes, and kept using them while they were already clichés. And, anyway, in the first place, they were horrible. I mean, this thing with the guitar is so silly... That said, I don't want to argue : I like their music, but, live, I can't help but finding them (sometimes) ridiculous.

As much as I have enjoyed seeing Motorhead, I far more enjoy seeing an energetic Priest or Maiden (although Priest are less so these days) show. Seeing Mastodon this summer at Download was really not that exciting.. never moved and never spoke between songs, no crowd interaction at all.

Band energy rubs off on the crowd.

Oh god yeah. I said to you that they might be good in a really small venue. Although their music is pretty dull anyway.

You going to Sonisphere Crimmers? Maybe a bit far for a day ticket this time.

I doubt I'll be going to Sonisphere, transport would be much more of an issue than for Download, and the other headliner are not one I would go see. So far I don't think I'll be going to any festivals this year.

I didn't go to their show when they came to the city last year, mostly because I forgot to check the dates. 25th anniversary show with new material and majority of CrimsonIdol included.

But if they were on tour and they tend to do a small club in each city anywhere :P

"We're still working on the set list for these summer shows, but this time it will cover the whole history of the band, and I can hint that we will be playing a taster from the new album."

A lot of metal in the 80s and a lot of metal today is ridiculously silly. full stop. :D (but its part of the charm somewhat!)

Going to get my Sonisphere tickets next year hopefully the third headliner will be announced by then, Metal Hammer are rumoring Sabbeth, ACDC or Foo Fighters atm. Anyone else going to Knebworth soni? As or the cliches, any great live band today falls into the metal show cliche. Maiden during The Trooper all go into the middle, cliche. Metallica with the Metallica Family, cliche. Judas Priest have a lot of cliches. Rammstein theyre entire show is pretty much a cliche. The best stage shows are over the top, crowd entertaining and operatic. Which all 3 are cliches, id rather them do the cliches which entertain than stand there play the music. Ive seen Megadeth 3 times and only once have they blown me away live, and that was eariler this year. Other times yes they play their music well, it was more about the atmosphere, there stage show wasnt great. Cliches are cliches but they are there for a reason, its what the vast majority of people like seeing, its what entertains most and i for one am not bothered by it. Also ive seen Priest live a few times recently and neither time did he cunnilingus on his guitar, neither KK or Glenn did it and neither did the new guitarist on the Epitaph tour.

I bought my ticket on Monday. When you vote for Metallica's setlist make sure you vote for some alternative songs instead of the usual suspects.

I've seen them six times and I've only felt underwhelmed once.

Random thought- I know in past years Rock am Ring/im Park has spawned TV broadcast rips of entire shows. Is this something they do every year? It'd be pretty neat to have proshot documentation of both setlists of the ME tour!
