Maiden Tour 2014 (SPOILER TAGS REQUIRED WITHIN)

Lars doesn't actually say they're playing on the same day. He says "we haven't played together on the same day since 1988, this is the closest we've come for 25 years". Close (same festival, one day apart), but not the same day. Is that not what he meant?

Forostar, I just didn't know what "fans" they asked. Members of the official fanclub I see. Interesting choice(s) they made. Do we have any evidence that those tracks were all picked by fans, or did Maiden just ask to get a flavour of what fans would like?

I think you didn't have to be a member to vote. Not 100% sure though. But I do remember that fans were surprised that Alexander didn't make it. So I don't think everyone believed that the selection represented the votes totally.

Lars picked a strange way of wording it. I read it again and again, and was only convinced when I read that quote from Steve on Metal Hammer's website.

I think the guy who wrote the article zoomed in on the use of "co-headline" and didn't bother reading the rest of it. Bad journalism at it's finest!

On the Ed Hunter thing: it probably wasn't possible to ask all the fans or everyone who bought a ticket back then so the official fan club was the most efficient way of gauging opinion. Technology has moved on since then though.

I never thought they were playing the same day, no matter what Lars said. Maiden are playing on the 5th and Metallica on the 6th.

I think fan vote tours are always a bit dodgey. I mean how do people know what the vast majority vote for when only a minority of voters actually say what they voted for on forum, plus if its kept secret it doesnt really matter because no one can say the vast majority voted for (song) because its secret. The way Metallica have done it has surprised me by making the results public, im personally not going to look at the results again because then itl truely be a surprise setlist, but its surprising because theres no chance Metallica can actually change or play other songs. I remember Saxon doing this sorta thing for Wacken, but to get around not playing the hits they played songs that the band chose as well. Itl be interesting because if you look at the Prague poll so far for Metallica thatl be a very interesting setlist as well as a few songs from Vienna.

I'm not into Metallica at all, but this is a really brilliant idea. And making the results public, as Maiden FC666 underlined, is even greater.

Have you ever gone there FrenchMember ? I wonder if it's gonna be possible to look at Slayer on Mainstage 2, and then at Maiden on Mainstage 1. I haven't found any information on the french forum yet.

Hopefully the times will be staggered. There are so many big names it'll be difficult to choose who to see.

No, it will be my first time ever next year. But I have some friends who are going to hellfest every year, and they told me it's possible. However, you won't be well placed in the crowd for Maiden.
I think I will sacrifice a part of the whole show of Slayer to be well placed for Maiden. Hard choice.

Thanks for answering. This is what I feared. I will have to make a choice, obviously in favour of Maiden, and look to Slayer from afar :censored:.
