Maiden England and Live at Donington appear on Shirley's mixes discography..

I read somewhere, perhaps on Wiki, that Janick does "occasional backing vocals."

OK? ...So what does he sing? "Run to the hills?"  I have seen live shows where Dave mouths the words, that comes from Harris doing it all these years. So why doesn't he just sing with the rest of them? His voice can't be THAT bad!  :P

Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but I was responding to gulranek's post.

Always found it odd that Adrian didn't have more vocal-work. He's by far the best singer in the band next to Bruce, but it seems Steve sings more often. And Steve himself has joked about himself not being able to sing.

Well, I think Adrian doesnt really like singing all that much anymore. Yes, he did Urchin, Entire Population of Hackney, ASAP and The Untouchables......but with Psycho Motel he didn't do lead vocals and I think this perhaps shows him starting to prefer sticking to lead guitar in the mid 90s.

When I say that, I mean Adrian still likes to sing, but not as much as he used to. Although, this is all an educated guess, I obviously cant claim to know what Adrian's reasons are.
Besides, looking at his contributions to the latest albums, I think he is much needed on lead guitar, because for some reason Dave and Janick are not throwing as much out in terms of new playing and new songs. Or maybe if Adrian gave them some breathing room? Bah, who knows? The only thing I can see is Adrian is pulling off some great music on the new albums and Dave and Janick seem to have run out of ideas.

Would love to see another B'side with H on lead vocals again though.

Yeah, too bad that only H can sing... But I don't think the guitar parts are so complex, especially during the chorus of a song where most backing vocals are used.

BTW, did anyone catch the Making of AMOLAD? At the very end of the documentary, while the band is playing "Tush" by ZZ Top, at one point Adrian kicks in with his backing vocals. A brilliant moment! :D

yeah, that whole moment with them all in there on accoustic guitars, really intimate. Just looks like a band should be, all jamming away.

Its funny, because people talk about that cover like its the first time Maiden have done it, even though they have done it a long time ago before, but not on an official recording.

I totally agree. So if H doesn't wanna sing lead on Wasted Years on this tour for a few shows, the boys could make it a B side and I'll be in my glory  :P
While they're at it, he should sing lead on SIASL too  :smartarse:

Hmm, when we look at the amount of songs, I think that Adrian did even more vocal work than Steve.

Steve never sung on Aces High, The Trooper, Wasted Years & Flight Of Icarus

Adrian has sung on on all songs where Steve sang, only he's more inconsistent. Sometimes he does vocals, sometimes not.

I felt a revival of this thread was necessary, as I have just checked Shirley's site today, and two more items are listed under his full discography:
Iron Maiden - Somewhere Back In Time (movie)
Iron Maiden - Amosw (Not scheduled yet)

The former we already know about I think, its probably the documentary they are making for this tour, however, what could the latter be?

My current thoughts are it means something like "A Matter of.....", but I'm not sure. Interesting none the less.

A Matter of Something Wicked?  Nah, this isn't Iced Earth.  That's what came to my mind first though. ;)

Speaking of fairwell tours, though, it better be the biggest motherfucking tour the world has ever seen.  As in, twice World Slavery at least.  Maiden has got to go out with a bang.  And then do an "encore."  :D

That would only be appropriate naming if Iced Earth was the headliner.  I would sell my soul for Iced Earth opening for Maiden, though.

It can be the album of the Donnington DVD.

Or even the initials of a new maiden album, who knows... They have been releasing a new album every three years, and by this logic next year is a new album's year.

I wonder if the encore will be added. I'm not sure if it was recorded (I forgot that), but I remember a 1989 interview in which 'Arry stated that Maiden didn't want these tracks on the video because they were already on LAD ("only" 4 years earlier).

Since 2008 is way later (and since we get same tracks every 3 years on live DVD's), this could be an option again.

Hmm, now that I think longer about it, Steve probably never edited the encore, so chances are almost nihil.

I didn't know about that! Which songs were removed from the video? I can think about the trooper and Run to the Hills... and does the walking Eddie appear? I always thought strange that he didin't appear on the gig. Now everything makes sense

Audience bootleg. Master tapes from the soundboard also lack three encores?! So they stopped recording before the encores? Weird...

There isn't a walking Eddie because there's a second Eddie (the one at the crystal ball) together with all other stage theatrics clearly visible on the atmospherical part of Seventh Son Of The Seventh Son.

Don't think they were master tapes, more like someone ripped the audio of the video and claimed it as soundboard.

It's happening twice this tour.

But both times in Spain!  :(
