I wonder why they didn't organise & announce this date earlier. One can only assume this wasn't known for definite to Maiden themselves earlier in the year. The alternative is that it was known (& organised) but not announced. This seems unlikely if one accepts what Hermod stated in earlier June i.e. that they had only, then, "provisionally" booked the O2. I know guys in the UK were waiting with crossed fingers anyway, but my guess is that some would have preferred to have seen them in London (Maiden only) than at Donington (festival), given the choice. Now they may not be able to afford another trip & ticket after having attended Donington. Seems a pity if that turns out to be the case for some folks. I mean, surely they were always intending to play a UK gig? And if not, why not?
Further, with it now being pretty short notice, & being in August (family holiday time) --if you work & need time off (as you normally work Saturdays &/or need to give plenty of notice of holidays, etc) it's going to be pretty difficult to attend. I find this all pretty annoying. If they'd announced the O2 in January or February (barring not getting a ticket) --I'd be going. As it is, I'll probably not get time off --& won't be going.
