Maiden and upcoming departures

AC/DC and Judas Priest have experienced some lineup changes. Is it bound to happen to Maiden too? Or will they do what Led Zeppelin did?

I don't see Nicko staying that much longer to be honest. If something happened to Steve or Bruce the band would have to fold. Then again, with the Axl Rose situation in mind... I might be better of turning off my computer:D

The possibilities are endless...would they search the galaxies to find and start training up their jEDi replacements? :pJEDI.jpg BTW...May the 4th be with you!

If anyone in Maiden has serious issues with touring/playing, the band should just retire gracefully- or at least reach an agreement with said band member to scale back touring/recording to a level that accommodates them. It just wouldn't be the same with someone new in the mix.

My initial impulse was to move this to the Madness forum courtesy of @GhostSword losing no time in trying to derail this. Then I reconsidered and decided I'd not let one troll make this board impossible.

Wow Peerun Really!!!.... people who have opinions are trolls?
Who thought there were so many uptight ponces on the forum, that wouldn't appreciate a cool May 4th Star Wars tie-in to a rather silly thread point anyway.

No. Because Steve has stated Maiden is at the stage when if anyone leaves, there is no point of continuing. Bruce still has his solo career, Steve has British Lion, H has his blues project/would probably play with Bruce /would work as a producer along with his son Dylan, Nicko has his McBrainiacs and Dodgy Enterprise and Davey would probably walk into Alice Cooper band (he is his neighbour apparently). Not sure what Jan would do. Maybe start playing with Ian Gillan again?

Nicko has stated that he wants the band to continue without him, if anything happens. But everything points to the direction that the other members disagree, because they know that Nicko is the glue that holds them together.

I don't see you formulating an opinion in this thread, merely posting random madness.

But AC/DC playing without the Back in Black lineup seemed impossible after Rudd returned. But here we are. And don't get me started on the Judas Priest situation. It's not like those members didn't have any other alternatives than to play on.

It seemed impossible, until Malcom's dementia happened. Then, without one of the two leaders Angus did whatever he wanted and eventually it became Angus Young and friends. Cliff Williams saw that and retired.

If you think that Maiden will get to that level, you're pretty daft. Especially replacing Bruce, who Steve himself said is irreplacable at this point. They don't need the money anymore and if they want to play, they can play smaller venues with their side projects. I doubt that anyone will want to play Trooper or FOTD for the 2834th time after Maiden is done.

This.

I don't like to draw conclusions on what level Maiden will get to in terms of departures, but I hope the band would retire. Although I don't think they will if Nicko or Janick departures. If Steve or Bruce did it would be over, absolutely.

Wise words.

The AC/DC situation is pretty pathetic, in particular the way Angus has (allegedly) treated Brian Johnson, sending all his touring kit over to Florida, where it was left on his driveway. I am glad Cliff Williams decided to bow out with dignity.

I can be quite critical with Steve and Rod, but I'd like to think they would act in a very different way if anything were to happen to anyone in Maiden (we have a good example with cancelling one tour already booked as a result of Bruce illness and waiting until he recovered to tour again).

I used to think Maiden could keep going without Nicko or one of the three guitarists, but after seeing Judas Priest recently I think it’d be best if they ended it with the current lineup in tact.

The problem isn't that you have an opinion, it's that you don't respect other people's opinions, nor do you try to see things from others' points of view. There's plenty of people who agree with your basic point on this forum. Heck, there's people whose very usernames support those opinions. They simply respect that other people might disagree with them.

If the band agreed to do it, remember this. Steve has British Lion, Bruce would likely do solo stuff again with maybe Adrian and perhaps Janick and Dave. Nicko has his rib shack to do short performances and entertain. They could keep going on side ventures....

I think the band should continue if Janick quits or croaks. But I agree that losing anyone else would make it a bit pointless.

But when/if Iron Maiden does disband, I'd really like to see some more Bruce/Adrian/Roy Z. material. Tyranny Of Souls lacked a little something without Adrian in the mix...
