Speaking as someone who was from one of the lesser powers, I can definitely agree that the politics are interesting, even if Canada was tied to the UK culturally, the independence shown in doing things like...declaring war a week later than the UK, or the way Canada originally chose to participate in a limited fashion. That changed, of course, especially after the Battle of France, but it's still pretty neat.
I wonder how the Brazilians or Mexicans ponder it.
